Sorry to revive a semi dead thread, but I have the vibration issue with my 2012 wrx. I feel a vibration when travelling in and out with the clutch pedal, but not when in gear. The car only has 300 miles on it or so.

Sold the car about a month ago, but something I noticed was if I accelerated hard from a stop (ie. slip the clutch for smooth, fast acceleration), the clutch would feel extremely gritty for a few more shifts.
One or two shifts later at an easy pace, it was gone. I have no idea what it was. Sold the car at 21k miles and nothing was apparently wrong. Probably nothing to worry about. |

Anyone have any luck yet?
I registered when I saw this thread... I've been having the same issue... not the noise, but the gritty clutch... goes away after a few pumps... This doesn't concern me at low speeds, it's just an annoyance... but when I'm driving at high-speeds on the highway, it's pretty damn concerning to me. Been to the dealer twice, but can't replicate... |

You can actually feel it shifting at highway speeds? How strong is it?

Probably a matter of living something like the guide pin or spring on assembly.

Interesting. I only feel it on mine when the engine speed is at 1500-2500 RPM I think. It's faint enough that I don't tend to notice it while driving - just when starting starting out at cold idle - although if I'm looking for it I can feel it while driving. Never even entered my mind at highway speed though.

Have this is with my 2011 wrx with 20k. Just started noticing it and only happens when I wot. No squel just vibration like my clutch is pushing back on my foot. If I drive it hard then stop and put it in netrual it goes away. Weird, not sure if I'm gonna bring it to the stealership yet.

I had the techs look at this at my last oil change - but they couldn't replicate the issue. It seems like if I am driving and this happens - I just put it in neutral and pump the clutch 3-4 times...then the grit/give goes away. Not sure why in the world it does this...but I hope it doesn't lead to something down the road.

2011 wrx, 30k on it. Dealer said that the squeak was from lack of lubricant at some pivot point, but the squeak hasn't gone away and this vibration issue after hard driving still exists. The strange thing is how it is intermittent.. |

Same issue, here, been chasing it down for a while, no luck.
Happened much more in the winter than the summer. I had the same thing with WOT then pulsating as previous post, then I had new clutch+PP put in. Now it only happens at high idle/1500RPM, never after WOT any more. Only happens while the pedal is moving as other posters have said. The answer is probably that one of the pieces being pushed/moving, probably fork on the bearing or bearing on PP, is vibrating side to side, but not in and out, due to drivetrain vibration. Given the engine pistons push side to side, it makes sense the vibration is towards the tires, not towards the driver like the clutch fork/pistor. Only when the piece is travelling and pedal is going in and out, the vibration is felt due to it's not so smooth travel due to the lateral vibration Question is, why this much driveline vibration with the clutch pressed in, and why does it vary. I tried changing the master cylinder, no help. Somebody told me they added fender braces and front underbody braces and it has helped to lessen the vibration. |

ugh this makes me sad cuz it still happens to me if I push it past ~5500 in 2nd. I rarely drive it like that, so sometimes I forget this issue exists... I'd settle for that if my car was out of warranty, but it's not

I'm having an issue very similar to this. The clutch seems normal for the first half inch or so until it begins to engage, at this point it becomes gritty and has a vibration in the actual pedal. If you continue to push it all the way in the grittiness and vibration go away, but come back when it reaches the same point while letting it out. This happens when first starting the car, not after it reaches a certain rpm like others have stated. The clutch continues to do this for awhile, at different times it goes away but always seems to come right back. I don't launch the car or drive it very hard at all other than a few spirited pulls here and there. I also feel as this will be one of those problems that the dealership will say its a non-issue or claim they can't reproduce it :/
2011 WRX 20k miles, vibration has been happening for atleast the last 7k miles. |

Yup same thing here in my 2011 WRX with about 14k miles. For me it happens after hard acceleration and after I pump the clutch a few times, the vibration goes away.

The weird thing is that I haven't heard of anything that actually fixes this.

I just started having the exact same grittiness problem yesterday with my 6 week old 2012 hatch, about 2200 miles on it. I'm thinking of taking it to the dealer to get it checked out just because no one here seems to have discovered the problem, much less the solution.

I have a 2012 STI and just under 800 miles odm. I have this exact issue. Not having any clutch issues. But when accelerating through 1-2-3 gear at about 2-3k rpms. That is when i hear what seems to sound like metal rubbing on metal. I don't call it grinding cause its subtle. It almost sounds like there is no lubrication in the transmission. Thats the best way to describe it. I am going to bring it to the dealer tomorrow. Please anyone with more info on this please PM me. I think this is a real issue. This would actually make a great thread of its own. Seeing as its not clutch related. |

symptom: gritty feeling clutch after a WOT high RPM 2-3 shift, then goes away shortly thereafter.
it seems like it is a common issue and the only successful fix i've seen was lubing the clutch fork when dealers tear it down and see that it is dry. after doing research, i chose to just live with it (i've never actually brought the issue up to the dealer). however, for some reason, after reaching 35k ish miles, this issue has not re-occurred. strange, huh? oh and yes my clutch suffers from the other common issue, "whining when depressed after a cold start" |

2012 WRX Owner here.... Same issue. Gritty feeling clutch pedal. Left it at the dealer for 4 days with no resolution. Seems to happen once the car is warmed up. Goes away if I pump the petal a few times. I also have an intermittent squeak when releasing the pedal that can be felt through the clutch. Oh and also the trans grinds shifting from 1st to second sometimes.... Dealer can't replicate any of it even after having the car for 4 days therefore refuses to do anything about it.

2011 wrx sedan, vibrating, studder like feeling when pushing/ releasing clutch pedal.
This first happened when I did a fourth gear pull on the highway to about 85ish, when I pushed the clutch to shift 5th I felt it. Read up on it finding pumping the pedal to rid it (which it does). Now it happens more often in other gears when I drive semi aggressive. Always goes away after I pump the pedal. |

i got a 2011 wrx sedan this same thing happens to my car. when I drive it hard the clutch starts to feel like it is vibrating, or as if i have to pump it to get it back to normal. had the dealer check it out and they found nothing. i told them they had to accelerate hard and shift at around 6k, 2 technicians drove it and they couldn't replicate the problem.
