Hey guys,

I have a 2012 WRX sedan that came with the SPT exhaust on it. While I loved the sound of the SPT, my wife was not a big fan of the drone and the extra cabin noise around town. I'm strongly considering the Nameless 5" muffled axle back with the 3.5" double wall tips and I was wondering if anyone had heard both and could give me a comparison? I've watched just about every video in this thread and it appears the general consensus is that there is little to no drone on the highway with any of the axle back systems, but what about general driving? If I'm cruising in third or fourth gear going 40-45 mph on a back road is the cabin noise going to be ridiculous or will it sound similar to stock? I don't mind the extra noise when I get on it, the wife just can't handle any kind of drone or annoying noise at normal driving speeds.

I'm looking to make the purchase this week so any input you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The sedan should have zero drone with the 5 inch mufflers. My friend has the 4 inch on his and only has a tiny tiny amount of drone under load going up a large hill in lower rpm.

Ok well I just bit the bullet and placed my order for the 5" muffled axle back with the staggered 3.5" double wall tips! I can't wait to ditch these bulky (and ugly) stock mufflers and unleash the beautiful sound of the boxer engine!!!

I know that feeling... It took a good 3-4 weeks for me to sell my SPT Exhaust. And now I have to wait another 10+ days for the Nameless to be built and shipped.

Does anyone know why certain Nameless exhausts have been out of stock on their website for at least a couple weeks (or months)? In particular I'm talking about the '11 hatch stuff like the axelback or tbe packages.

Is this an issue of no raw materials being available? Or are their orders so backed up that they are deterring business until they can catch up on their current orders?

Figured I'd ask here to see if someone already called and knew the answer. Plus I won't be able to call during normal business hours until probably next week sometime.

It's not that we have actual exhausts out of stock, it's that you're configuring them with a tip that is not in stock (most likely 3.5" single wall, staggered). Starting in the next few days our hatch axleback will be available in 3.5" single wall, non staggered, but not in the staggered variation for a while. The people we were buying those tips from sent us a completely different version that cannot be staggered and has a slightly different spacing between the tips which means that we have to design a new fixture to accommodate this new design change (unapproved, this is why we started making our own tips).

We are also working on an in-house version of our own single wall 3.5" tips as well.

Jason

Hey Jason,

I was trying to order the non-staggered 3.5 the other day, and it wouldn't work -- still doesn't now. When might that be back?

Thanks!

Not yet... Apparently the wife had made dinner plans for us with some of her friends for last night that I was unaware of. Either way, the package did show up and they look great! I will have them on the car this evening with pics!

So I installed my 5" muffled axleback with the staggered 3.5" double wall tips last night and it sounds awesome!

However, I'm a little disappointed with how low it hangs away from the bumper. The 3.5" tips look amazing, but not when they are a good inch and a half away from the bumper cutouts, even with the stiffer mounts I bought from NP. I tried moving both hangers and bushings around on each side but no matter what I do with it the tips are still pretty far away from the cutouts... I'm going to get back under the car tonight and see what I can come up with for a solution, but for now I couldn't be happier with the sound!

I'm not taking any pictures until I get this thing hanging where I want it. It is sitting way too low right now and I personally think it looks horrible...

Sounds like same problem with me, even.though I'm on stock hangers.

Too lazy to get back under and get new ones...

I've heard of people using hose clamps.not the ideal solution, but it is one.

Excuse the noob question but, is there any harm in doing so? I only ask as its my current fix to the same low-hang issue.

Never tried it myself.I couldn't really see where it would hurt. Try getting a high grade one if possible, like stainless if they make them. I would still look for a permanent fix though.
