Over the course of the last 6 months I have been adding to my 2008 STI.
As of 8/23/12 I was finally able to get my first Dyno and protune tune. I also had a compression leakdown test ran to see where my engine was at, although I wasn't experiencing any of the "symptoms" that everyone speaks about pre-failure. I'm going to do my best to throw every bit of information I know regarding my test results and what has been added to the car. If I forget anything please feel free to ask. My Dyno, Compression and Leakdown tests were all performed at EQ Tuning. I'll give my review on them later. Compression & Leakdown Test Results: #1 - 147psi / 4% #2 - 131psi / 3% #3 - 151psi / 9% #4 - 131psi / 3% So basically... Not great on the first and third, but not terrible either. Time to start saving for the engine rebuild! ![]() Because of those results and the car being my DD, I asked for a VERY CONSERVATIVE tune, one that can last me 6 months, 1 year or more until I can afford to do the whole engine rebuild. I'm waiting on my tuner to send me the soft copy of my DYNO, when that happens I'll post that, until then you will all have to settle for me typing it. Dyno - Mustang Dyno Date - 8/23/12 Time - 5:20 P.M. Max WHP - 285.1 Max Torque - 309.8 ft/lbs Temp - 98.1 degrees Fahrenheit Pressure - 29.10 in/Hg Humidity - 29% Fuel Type - 91 oct (stupid California fuel) The following is everything I have done to my car: -AEM CAI -COBB AP -Perrin Catback -Perrin Downpipe -Perrin Uppipe -Perrin Equal Length Headers -Perrin Turbo Inlet Hose -Perrin Turbo Heat Shield -Hallman Pro RX Manual Boost Controller -Walbro Fuel Pump 255LPH -SMY Gauge Cluster -Defi Red Racer Series Boost Gauge -Defi Red Racer Series Oil Pressure Gauge -Mishimoto Sandwich Adaptor -DBA Street Series Slotted Rotors Front & Rear -Hawk HPS Brake Pads -COBB Shifter Knob (easily one of my favorite upgrades) -Whiteline 24mm Adjustable Front Sway Bar -Whiteline 22mm Adjustable Rear Sway Bar -RalliTek Front & Rear Endlinks -Whiteline Lower Control Arm Brace Well... That's everything I can think of. If you have any questions or comments or my thoughts on some of the parts I'm running, feel free to ask. Just please don't blow up this thread with "My car is running XYZ mods and pulled XXX more power than you! Your car sucks!" Dyno results and of course pictures will come soon. I have to find my camera cable and wait on the soft copy of the Dyno results. Oh, EQ Tuning rocks. I never once felt like a customer there. Instead, I felt like I dropped my car off at my very intelligent/mechanically inclined friends house. Also, because it was a 3 hour drive for me to get there I sat in the waiting area and hung out with the staff and watched movies on my laptop. Great environment, great people. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

More than 10% difference in compression from bank to bank.

Did you ever replace the timing belt or anything? Skipping a tooth on exhaust gear can cause that bank to go down

They haven't been replaced since I've owned the car. Which is for about 20k miles. I'll order new belts ASAP. How hard would it be just to replace all of them?

There's only one belt. 20k miles is barely anything on the stock belt. Since it was never touched I don't think it could skip unless there was an over-rev or something. Could always pull the rad and check timing marks though.

Was just outside looking under the hood, as far as I can tell the belts seem like they are in great condition... But I'm only an amateur mechanic...

You need to remove the radiator assembly, crank pulley, alternator/ps belt, ac belt and timing belt covers to inspect the timing belt.
Should be good until 100k miles though. |

How is your WHP??? You are fine, about 50hp shy of turning your turbo into a hair dryer.... What you should be asking yourself is. "Does my car feel fast and fun to me?" if yes, your WHP #'s are great, if no.....get a bigger turbo ![]() |

Fair enough. I'm starting to feel like modding my car is similar to getting tatoos being that you always think the next mod will be what holds you over. Problem is, as soon as I install it I'm already looking towards the next purchase. I just meant more towards is my car about average for what I've done, better or worse?
And yes I have a **** eating grin every time I pass a slow ass Prius. |

just make sure when you down shift, it is next to a prius so they can hear you hurting the environment
![]() your numbers are good. plenty enough to go to jail for. When you genuinely get used to the power you will know it. You will feel as if you are in slow motion. |

Awww did someone get their panties in a bunch? If you can't take a joke or someone making fun of another type of car or person, the internet probably isn't the place for you. Especially a forum. And by the way, your "economically friendly" car is NOT better for the environment and unless you bought it for CHEAP and USED, it was a COMPLETE waste of money. |

As long as you admit it was a joke that's cool with me.
You can seriously go **** yourself tho. I mean what I say and say what I mean. |

Actually that fell under the "making fun of another type of car or person" category.
Crappy cars driven by crappy people. |

before you tear apart your timing belt do an actual leakdown test. the #'s you posted were compression numbers from a dynamic compression test. a leakdown test will tell you what part to look at for the leak (rings, valves) and if its a valve timing related problem or not.
