Truth. All you really need in this car to make it fun is suspension work and a short shifter. Then, go find some twisties.

And if you can afford it, some better tires too. Everything else I agree with 100%.

17/18x8 wheels with a offset of +35 or more with good tires will make a huge difference in performance and won't require any suspension or fender mods to fit!

I've found revving engine to 6,000 RPM makes more power.

Here's my base model 2009. She has been backed into a total of 3 times now, you can actually see the damage in the rear of the driver side. She's almost to 75k miles, and last winter I hit a curb and bent the steel rims so she now sports some tire rack specials with some Kumho ecstas. Everything else about her is run of the mill.

Well my other half talked me out of a used 08 WRX when I bought this car. Everytime I start it I wish it was the red WRX, but everytime someone hits it and especially when I pile drived that curb, Im glad its a base model.

Well, I suppose your other half/husband did you a favor, as women are sometimes thought to be less-than-capable drivers.

HA

She's actually the one who taught me to drive stick some 11yrs ago, but she doesnt drive my car anymore. Driving stick and dealing with the 2yr old in the back seat isnt all that fun.

i love my 2007 2.5i but i always feel inadequate! But im glad i have this car, otherwise i'd probably be knee deep in tickets or insurance bills. definitely a good choice because its cheaper in all aspects and there is always time for modding or upgrading later. he will always be my favorite car and no matter how old i get or how beat up he is, he is here to stay!

I live in the middle of nowhere and the closest anything to me is about 15 minutes away. I also commute a lot for school. The amount of money I spend on gas is ridiculous if I fill my entire tank! I make sure that I never go past half so it hurts less when you fill up. The only downside is having to fill up at least twice a week. My insurance went up by 800 dollars when I got my impreza too. Its almost 3k a year for me alone. So not the best choice if your tight on money especially if you intend to add mods too.

3k a year for insurance on a 2.5i? May I ask how old you are? How is your driving record?
