Fortunately, (depending on your point of view) my front bumper isn't minty fresh. I stopped caring about its condition after something fell off a truck and hit the bumper less than a week after buying it

Skoolz me on registering on DLB? If I have to buy a weekend SCCA membership, do I save anything versus paying everything at registration when I or the weather decide if I'm coming both days?

If there's a significant chance of rain on either day we'll make a decision in the days prior to push back the event or not. You can also just cancel your registration on DLB and get a refund if you change your mind.

I've noticed it's the rear bumpers that tend to fall of the GR's.

I will check in the next couple days. If they do allow camping either night they typically close the gates so once you're in you're in.

I've camped for the other two day events and will this time too. There are usually a few people that camp out on saturday night and have a fire and such. We just stay right at the course and not at the "official" campground by the paddock (i.e. don't don't tell the gate you want to camp). The deal with the gate is that it closes ~6-7pm so no re-entry after that.

Drivers school is great for the first timer. I started earlier this year with the first drivers school and it was a huge confidence booster when you get to the full course. Everyone was super easy going and helpful with pointers on car control and how to go faster. Ride alongs with some of the fast drivers in the afternoon are really helpful too.

I remember on guy in a WRB STI hatch lost his bumper halfway around the course in Dover. Being as that I have more of an overhang with the sedan, I'm probably screwed

That's good to know. I think I may have unrealistically high expectation/goals for myself, plus I don't like to make a fool of myself in front of my peers; that creates the nervousness. Just gotta breathe and drive

I have taken a ride with Adam before, got a nice mouthful of dirt, haha.

It'll be interesting to compare my upcoming experience with my ride-along observations.

Which Adam? The one with the blue RS or the one with the black RS? Where? Dover or Summit?

Adam M. with the blue RS. Aren't you the Adam with the black one? I believe I took pictures of your car in Dover.

I'm David, the half-black dude at both of the Dover events

Ok finally registered. now to make my car not fall apart. I'm currently staying in a hotel in waldorf, md. anyone around this area mind to lend a helping hand? i'd like to put my stock suspension on my car but not really liking the idea of the factory jack and hotel parking lot. i have the tools just not a good jack. figured i'd see if any of you are around me and would like to hang out this weekend and lend a driveway and a jack.

cool to see some of the guys from the dover event will be here. I made the event i think last year...yeah my bumper fell off there too.

yeah that was me. that car was lowered and i was rear ended right before that event. so the bumper was already barely hanging on.

you can always leave, but very difficult to get back into SP after 5 or 6. if you're camping bring all supplies...food..liquids. be sure to bring a chair for drive school and later around campfire. there are showers in main paddock and 93, 100 and 110 octane gas pumps. don't think regular octane gas avail.

Wait.

You are changing your suspension at the hotel? Why not at home?

That is how the Pro teams do it at rallies. Poor tourists check into some resort to find the rally teams staying there. Then their nice quiet vacation is getting to listen to airguns, generators and Pat Richard tuning his anti-lag all night long. So maybe he is just practicing for the big-time.

Have used 2 SUVs (recce rentals) and chains as a frame machine in a casino/hotel parking lot. Whatever works.

Anybody else camping have rally RC cars?

Thinking I may bring some and could be fun to race Saturday evening. Some NASA Rallysport guys have talked about a RC car challenge Hyperfest weekends so may start looking for best course for them.

no pro team here just a car and a small box of tools and a helmet. I live in SC, I'm working up here for a month or so. So my garage is a hotel parking lot. not the best set up but you make what works work.
