Finally got new wheels and tires!!!
18x8 +45 Enkei Raijin gunmetal wheels 235 40 ZR 18 Michilin Pilot Super Sports A teaser shot - more to come!! I am on stock suspension, but like many, am waiting for the Bilstein+RCE Blacks. Hopefully by the time these are back on next spring I will be rockin' the new suspension! I am hoping I will have no rubbing issues all said and done - from what I hear, it shouldn't be an issue. I am biased and feel pics don't do these wheels justice. I absolutely love them! ![]() |

Looks really nice.
You shouldn't have any rubbing issues. I'm on 18x8 +45 Nurburgrings with 235/40zr18 Conti DW, RCE bils and Yellows. No rub. I wonder if there is much brake clearance difference between the Raijins and the Nurburgrings... |

Your ride looks great, and it was a toss up for me between the Raijins and the Nurburgrings when we got them. IIRC, the blacks are a bit lower, but I don't see it being and issue at all with this wheel/tire setup. P.S. Noticed we have the same rotors in front also.. ![]() |

I just swapped the Eibachs about a month ago. I thought the stock shocks were blown because they would close completely until hitting the bump stop. Turns out the Eibachs oversettled, leaving the tires almost completely hidden inside the wheelwell. I went with new KYB shocks and struts (no need for coilovers for the amount of driving I do) and a set of Progress lowering springs. I also changed wheels and tires for OZ Ultraleggera 17" in flat black with Hankook EVO 12 235/45. Haven't washed the car in a while, so pics will be posted soon... |

For all you guys who upsized from OEM wheels/tires (225/45/17) to 245/40/18, did you feel a noticeable degradation in acceleration or any perceived 'sluggishness' from the taller wheel/tire combo?
Worth the sacrifice? |

I'd like to hear more about this too Kingsalami.
I actually just swapped a set of 245/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Position for 235/40/18 because my installer showed me I didn't have much more than about 10-12 mm of space before the tire would be rubbing on the inside of the frame. I was warned that if the tire flexed enough inside it would begin to wear into the inside of the tire. I am wondering CAN you even fit 245/40/18's without rubbing inside. @Qwaktastic can you shed some light on this? I think you said you are running 245/40/18 - is that correct? |

Tire fitment is purely dependent on wheel sizing an offset.

Thanks for the info. fellas-
I am running 18x8 +38 and am lowered about 1.5 in front and rear. Rolled in the back. So it sounds like I would have been able to run those 245's if I had rolled the fronts and dialed in less camber. Does that sound right? I guess it's hard to say one way or the other without seeing it. But I just thought I'd ask. |

I'm lowered an inch on 18x8.5 +44 wheels and will be switching from 225/40s to 245/40s in the Spring. Fenders are stock and I don't anticipate that I'll need to roll them; I've never rubbed on the 225/40s and they have a decent amount of clearance when the car is parked on level ground. I tend to buy cheap tires, and cheap tires usually don't run wide so maybe that's helping me too. |

Yeah, I'm running 245/40/18 x 9 +38. Originally the tires were very close to the front struts. Only a few millimeters of space between them. Also, under full lock, I rub the fender liners, but that has a lot to do with how low I am as well in addition to the Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit. I'm sitting on RCE Blacks + Bilsteins and just added the RCE camber plates up front. Now that I have the camber plates installed, I have a lot more room between the tire and front struts.
Sluggishness? Yes and no...I mean the car would feel faster if I had a shorter tire on no doubt. I know this from switching wheel/tire setups for winter. But wheel/tire weight also plays a factor in the acceleration department. But to me it's worth the fitment and additional sidewall here in Philly. Plus I don't race my car. The additional sluggishness really doesn't mean anything to me for what I use the car for. |
