I really hate that RB didnt make any announcement for fans to go watch the car run for a bit. They had it out in the middle of the day yet only a few reporters were on site to see it. As if a bunch of guys with their phones out to record would have such a burden on the team that they had to keep the visit to NJ a secret.

Sliver of actual news:

F1's young driver test at Magny-Cours is to go ahead next month

Formula 1's young driver test at Magny-Cours is to go ahead next month, AUTOSPORT can reveal.

A number of teams had been looking for an alternative venue after Silverstone's test in July was reduced to two days, because they were not keen to run at Yas Marina in November.

An idea to run at Jerez post-season did not gather much support, but a proposal first put forward by Mercedes to test at Magny-Cours in the week after the Italian Grand Prix seemed more feasible.

Ferrari has now revealed that it is definitely attending the Magny-Cours test, with the Italian outfit also likely to be joined by Mercedes - although the Brackley-based outfit has not officially confirmed its plans yet.

Red Bull, Toro Rosso and McLaren are all sticking to their original plan to run at Yas Marina in the week after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - which takes place on November 4.

Williams, HRT and Marussia all elected to have their young driver test days at Silverstone.

Sauber, Lotus, Caterham and Force India's plans are not finalised yet, although it is possible that the latter may run at Magny-Cours too.

silly Jenson. You arent a woman.

Quote:
Q. Jenson, during the break, not only an Iron Man but your own triathlon as well. But the triathlon didn't end quite the way you wanted to – perhaps we should share that story?

Jenson BUTTON: I think we should move on from that one!

Q. The whole of Britain knows about it, so how about the whole of the world.

JB: I did a triathlon for [charity] Help for Heroes and it was quite cold in the water. People were wearing wetsuits, I'd left mine in the hotel so I decided to try to squeeze into my girlfriend's... which felt OK until I got into the water and then it tightened up in... certain areas. So that was the end of my race. I had a panic attack in the water! So yeah, good and bad memories but it was a great event and I think everyone had fun and we raised a lot of money for Help for Heroes. In the end it was fun but the most important thing is what we raised.

maybe if he was fernando or felipe's size but hes tall for an f1 driver. no female wetsuit would work for him ha.

is anyone else annoyed by all the media outlets calling for a Kimi win this weekend at Spa? its driving me nuts. we all know its going to be someone we dont expect, thats how the races turn out these days. who can get their tires to the perfect temperature and hold them there for the longest period?

lotus didn't get to test their fluid switch DRS so they won't be using it.

Fernando Alonso will end career with Ferrari

Fernando Alonso has ruled out racing for any other team in Formula 1 and says he will finish his career with Ferrari.

The Spaniard said he could also be open to competing beyond 2016, when his current contract, signed in 2011, runs out.

Alonso currently leads the 2012 drivers' championship, although his advantage was eroded to 24 points following his first corner exit at Spa, while Ferrari sit fourth in the constructors' standings.

"I finish my contract for 2017, and at the moment I think it is still too early to be sure what my feelings and my motivation will be then," Alonso said.

"If I am still motivated and hungry still I would love to continue, and if I do it would only be with Ferrari for sure.

"If at that time I feel it is time to stop and have a different life it will be a decision I make that year.

"I have been racing for so many years, it is a very demanding life and sport, but I know that one day the time to stop will arrive. We will see when that day comes."

Alonso said he bore Romain Grosjean no ill feeling for his early exit from the Belgian Grand Prix, explaining that he had accepted the Frenchman's apology.

Asked if he had heard from Grosjean, Alonso said: "Yes. I have a very good relationship with Grosjean, we were team-mates at Renault and after the accident he sent me a SMS.

"He didn't calculate the distance and the problems, it was many factors together and he felt so sorry for the accident.

"I answered 'no problem.' We will see each other again in Singapore, it was all fine.

"My engine is fine, no problem or damage, so now we have another fresh engine compared to [my] main rivals.

"It's not a big performance gain, but it is always nice from a driveability point of view."

It will be cumulative. Like not getting a race seat next year.

I can't see that happening anytime soon. Number 1 on Hamilton's mind is having a team around him that's capable of winning a world championship. Going to Merc right now would be a massive step backwards.

mclaren is losing vodafone sponsors this year right? they're probably just trying to squeeze his pay. there's some blog speculation EJ is being played as a pawn here by Bernie to mix it up. i dont see why mclaren would let it happen, i mean they have diresta in the pipeline and i cant say he's wow'd me enough to think he's deserving of a 2013 drive at mclaren.

Funny, but I'm guessing the $25Million from Hugo Chavez will secure his 2013 seat

Grosjean out for Lotus this weekend.
http://www.formula1.com/news/headlin...2/9/13748.html

Quote:
Lotus have announced that reserve driver Jerome D’Ambrosio will compete for the team at this weekend’s Italian round alongside Kimi Raikkonen. D’Ambrosio replaces Romain Grosjean, who received a one-race ban after causing a crash at the start of Sunday’s Belgian event.
Fair penalty?

Nevermind. Just checked the Monza thread.

They're all high strung primadonnas, Hami seems worst than some but not enough to dismiss his talent and results. These guys do mature and improve, Alsono is way better than he used to be, yet you still see him waving around in the car when someone upsets him.

He's incredibly fast but emotionally unstable, which ends up having a direct impact on his race performance and decision making.

Emotionally unstable because they play radio bits of him being cranky/angry? Vettel, Alonso, Massa all come to mind as having similiar huffy fits in and out of the car.

and in defense of hamilton Mclaren has been pretty piss poor in critical areas (namely pit stops and strategy).
