Here's the story. Got this 05 STI with 63K miles on it that didn't start. I got it from a NJ Homicide detective that didn't have the time to troubleshoot. The car has the following mods:

- Perrin FMIC
- Perrin polka pickle turbo rebuilt <680miles on it
- 850cc injectors
- 255lph Walbro
- Perrin SRI
- Perrin DP
- Perrin dual tube exhaust
- Grimmspeed TGV deletes
- Perrin STS
- Perrin sway bars, endlinks, lateral bars, subframing blah blah blah
*Should be perrin sponsered all the crap is from them

It had a Viper Alarm system installed, terribly I might add, hacked up the dash harness, but when said previous owner had it it was running no problem. I'm assuming over time it could have shorted something out.

Now I have it, so I say lets get to the troubleshooting. All grounds good? Check. Oh do you have new spark plugs? Yup. New coilpacks? Yup. New battery? Yup. Still have crank but no spark? Yup. Tested the pinouts 18-21 on B137 to ECU which is the ignition pinouts. Got ZERO voltage across all 4 while the car was "on." Pulled the coilpack, cranked it, got no spark.

I hear the fuel pump primed, I feel the fuel relays in the passenger side kick panel clicking. When I put in the key, the security light shuts off, so it's not the immobilizer. So, now that I'm really just wanting this car to work I say lets get a new full harness from front to back. Replace whatever shorted, or open circuit to the ignition and start from known good.

After a week, I find an 05 STI harness front to back out of a rollover, unmolested with less than 20k. Check. Then I find an 06 STI ignition, immobilizer, ECU, and keys all from the same car so each item is programmed to match. Check.

7 hours later on Labor day monday, everything is installed. Plug up everything that needs to be plugged. Battery hooked up, check. Put in the key, uh oh! Crank but no start. Like seriously? $1000 and some odd change later and about 20 hours of work total put in and this is what I get?

Call up a few shops, obviously they can't tell me whats up over the phone they have "look" at it aka take $125/hour to do the exact same thing I did and tell me "i have no clue" isn't really too much of an option. If I knew someone is fully capable I.E. not a 22 year old kid that failed out of college and has done 1 WRX swap into a $300 RS in his mom's garage, could give me a legitimate answer as to what the issue is. I'll gladly pay for someone to do that. What's your experience? Have you dealt with issues like this in the past? It doesn't really make me feel comfortable knowing that said shop I called that's highly reputable tell me "you can bring it here, but we might not find what the problem is." ok, so how about i tow my STI an hour and a half and pay $125/hour to be told "i don't know."

Has anyone run into this issue? What can I do? What can be my options? I feel like my only option is to say, anyone want an STI with crank but doesn't start for $15k?

List:

- Not immobilizer
- Not fuel
- Not ICU (I swapped 2 out)
- Not spark plugs (2 new sets in and out)
- Not coil packs (brand new)
- Not fuel (fuel pump works)
- Not harness (put in known good already)
- Not ign, ECU, or keys (b/c they are all programmed to match)
