Default Ken Gushi makes Final 4 at Formula Drift Round 5

Ken Gushi makes Final 4 at Formula Drift Round 5

At Round 5 of the Formula Drift Championship, in Monroe, Wash., Ken Gushi drove his Scion FR-S (aka Subaru BRZ) into the coveted "Top 4" finals competition. His Scion is powered by a Cosworth-built Subaru EJ25 with a rather large Greddy turbo. Unfortunately, Rhys Millen and his turbocharged V6 Hyundai Genesis Coupe edged out Gushi the Final 4 battle.

Watch the video (commercial free)

We assembled this clip reel so you can enjoy those sweet, sweet boxer sounds. Since it has equal-length headers, his Scion FR-S doesn't exactly sound like a “traditional” Subaru. Maybe Gushi's success will also inspire some BRZ owners to drop EJ257's into their own cars.

Specs? Main thing I'm looking for is weight distribution and what he's done to get it there...

We're talking to Gushi about doing a feature on his car in the future. Here's a few specs, but not the level of detail you're looking for, I'm sure: http://www.formulad.com/drivers/profile/ken-gushi.php

Keep in mind, too, that this is a factory-backed car. When Foust was running a Scion TC they bolted in a V8 powertrain from a NASCAR stock car. There may be much more R&D in this car than it may appear (Toyota/Scion can afford it.) Then again, maybe it just bolted in.

I was there. It was fun and entertaining. Gushi did awesome but just couldn't quite hang with those crazy powerful V-8s. The FRS he was driving sounded amazing!

Every part on the stock car minus the transmission and diff says Subaru on it. Even the back of the Scion logo has Subaru stamped on it.

Don't know how I missed this, but god damn, how do you equate different companies with similar names, with two companies that are not only commercially linked, but collaborated on this particular project?
SUBARU MAKES EVERY LARGE PART ON THIS CAR EXCEPT THE TRANSMISSION AND REAR DIFF. SUBARU BUILDS THIS CAR IN THE SAME FACTORY AS THE IMPREZA.

Can anyone really be this dense?
