Anyone know a good website (trusted high rep) for buying subaru parts. Not performance but maintenance. (Seals, Gaskets, shafts, pulleys etc.)

My evo transition is almost complete. 7 months of searching and being patient has led me to an:
06 GSR
120k miles, one owner, stock.

Florida car, minor scuffs which were expected.

Let me know how crazy I am to buy this thing @ 17k. It has zero issues other than sunburnt headlights and the hood is a little faded. All vin stamps match and a quick feelaround says no paint work done

Normally I'd say yes but it appears like everything has already been taken care of. Maybe the previous owner did a bunch of stuff and then decided to trade it in. Same thing happened with my S4. I put about 4k into maintenance and then traded it a few months after. Someone got a really good car haha

As with any high mileage turbo car... I would get a compression test before spending $17,000 on it.

As long as it runs fine. These have sleeved cylinders from the factory and a cast iron block. 1g DSMs run 8-9 seconds on stock blocks with 250k miles. Just wondering what else I might be getting into with a slightly older Evo other than the regular maintenance

Interesting. I need to trade in my wrx though. No time to sell it private party and deal with the hassles because there a note on it. The 03's were pretty problematic if you didn't maintain them. The 06's had the best revision. I'll pm you

Omg those intercooler hoses were such a pain, actually the y pipe and the throttle body hoses were the easiest, the biggest pain was the bypass valve hose, had to remove a coolant line and a PCV hose since the clamp was on the bottom, long story the old hose is butchered and the new hoses look good and hopefully preform even better. Also I tried lifting the rear of my car, the pinch welds compressed and when I tried to lower it on jack stands it was making an impression in the frame and I'm getting annoyed lol

Jack it up by the rear diff, you won't hurt it.

Also, the trick with hoses is to lube them up a little first so they slide on easy. Get some spit on yur finger and rub it all around the inside. Slides right in, or at least that's what she said

If you lube them with hair spray, you get a double bonus as the hair spray is slippery when wet, but when it sets it helps seal the hoses.
