Close; State Express 555 was a brand of cigarettes sold by the British American Tobacco company. If you look at the license plate on our car, as well as the real Subaru Rally Team cars, the plates were L555BAT.

When the rallies were held in a country that prohibited tobacco advertising in motorsports, they used an alternate color scheme that is sometimes referred to as "crescent" scheme.

Ironically, neither my brother (retraC,) or I smoke, but we felt that it was the best way to honor McRae's legacy and the car's heritage.

Heh, not an SCCA event.

Also, it wasn't quite a jump. If we had maybe an additional 10 mph, we would have been airborne.

Thanks for the kind words, gents. Hopefully, we can get up some more pictures and video later. Ice racing season is coming up!

Ah, I always wondered what the deal with the crescent thing was. Looks like they did something similiar for Makinens car as well..........

Non tobacco advertising.......... (this is from Monte actually)

Man, all these pics are making me nostalgic haha This has got to be one of my favorite era's in rallying.

Hey it don't matter if anyone else thinks its a racecar, if you feel like a rally driver when your driving, thats all that matters, screw everyone else lol

No need to get 'rallied-out', just go get dirty! =D A skid plate is nice, and sometimes I take out the little plastic side pieces rather than pick them up later if you really are going to rally cross it or otherwise drive hard off-road, but stock class is one of the most popular. Just a skid plate and a front strut brace would be nice first additives.
