Mike ~ Larry was great. I suspect it was Byers Subaru that had the problem because they said in writing that they would match it; then when I was about to drive out to drop off my deposit they called and said they didn't realize it was under invoice not MSRP and said they couldn't do it. The guy was really nice about it, but still.... should have read it closer. Thankfully Hatfield came through for me. Props to them!

I think I have met Larry (terrible memory, self induced). Good peoples over there in general. I know I pissed someone off though

Here in central ohio as well. No one around here even wants to play ball with me. Getting quoted either straight MSRP or 100-200 off MSRP. They all just say "since this takes from our allocation we wont lower the price". This is incredibly disappointing!

Huge bummer that other (greedy) dealers are complaining about this thread. Props to Evanston Subaru for offering such an awesome deal. It's a real bummer I'm farther than 200 miles away...

Drove by my local dealer and the have gotten in 2 2013 models here are some pics, everything looks the same as 2012

only took pics of the one car

no no no it was on the headlight not in it, i saw that too and swiped it with my finger

so again for everyone it was ON the headlight NOT INSIDE lol

I will be out of town from Sept 2nd through Sept. 12th returning to work on the 13th. I will be in the mountains of Colorado and have promised myself that there will be no technology for me.

Hey all, I'm new to the car buying scene and was hoping for some advice.

I just ordered a 2013 base WRX w/a couple of extras from Nate Wade Subaru in SLC, UT. They priced it at 500 over msrp. Any possibility of getting them down to msrp or getting them to throw me some type of maintenance plan or anything like that?

Did you agree to the price before you ordered it? Technically you can always back out...if you are rethinking it then talk to your guy ASAP. They might be willing to throw in some oil changes or something like a free 2yr maintenance plan. Wait, I was thinking you were $500 over invoice, but $500 over MSRP is a horrible deal and you should not buy that car. I would think in SLC you should be able to get one at or below invoice.

I need to follow up with the sales guy. Now that you mention it, I believe he quoted me $500 over invoice and not $500 over MSRP, but I'm going to follow up with him today.

As far as the price, he gave me the pricing but we haven't signed anything so I don't feel as though it's official, though I could be wrong since I placed the order and gave them a deposit.

Is it very difficult to negotiate after the order has been placed?

You are probably going to have a hard time lowering the price, I mean you agreed on it and put the deposit down...it doesn't hurt to try, but your best bet might be asking for free stuff. $500 over invoice isn't terrible from what I have seen, but it's not a great deal either.

If you have not signed anything, technically you are not bound by law.

However, technically they have your money

If you are 500 over invoice you got a decent deal and I would not bother trying to re-negotiate. If you agreed to 500 over MSRP that is a little silly

Just my personal opinions there.

Thanks for all of the info, it has been very helpful. I actually had another dealer in the SLC area that called and was willing to sell it at invoice price plus throw in a couple of extras.

I called the dealer where I had ordered the car and they were willing to match the price for me.

I think the thing I learned here is that I didn't do as much research beforehand as I should have.

Yeah, I don't mind negotiating price for a car, but luckily Mike already had the best price and so far it has been a breeze...hope it stays that way through the rest of this journey .
