Default What sensor is this?

Hello, I've been tracking down boost leaks on my car and was required to take of the intake manifold to repair a gasket. As I was taking things apart I notice the sensor in the picture below along with a spare wire just sitting there. I searched for quite a while and still can't figure out what sensor it is or what the wire is for. The sensor seems to be part of the cooling system and the manifold that is on the car looks to me like a STI manifold that was painted black (why anyone would do that beats me) and its on a hybrid setup running a 02 wrx ecu. Let me know what you guys think because I have no clue!

Now that you have an IAT sensor post intercooler, get it hooked up, and get tuned via speed density

that wire does not appear to be a spare to me.... looks like the wire for the Knock sensor and maybe you ripped it out during removal. The other quesion has been answered and they are correct. If you ever go speed density you will need this sensor.

Haha o ok thanks would I need a Jdm wiring harness and ecu for it to work? And I checked the knock sensor all wires are there. I'll fire it up today and see if I get any cel's I'm hoping its just a wire ran in attempt to hook up that unused sensor.

No, likely the harness on the intake manifold is a USDM one because i dont see the 2 wire connector for it. The good thing about the sensor is if you wanted to go SD thats one $50 sensor you dont have to buy..... to go SD from here all you would need is a 4bar map sensor.
