Caught some air on the top of 4th gear and lost 4th gear or something transmission related. Take that FA20! |

Were you on it when it landed? FA20 is still ok, yes? On the plus side, looking forward to pics of the transmission innards. |

well, to be fair though, you play the game at an entirely different level than the rest of us. We dont drive the kind of cars/horsepower that you do....and Your STI is making what? 800? 900AWHP? something like that?

Stock power was pretty low... Internally stock STi engines have made over 460 long term. 127-128 traps is fast (right where my wagon was on the last setup) but I wouldn't consider it insane... Hence a new much more serious build ![]() A lot of it is opinion though, some guys feel 300whp is really fast. I think my point was once we see power levels higher than what stock STi engines can support, we'll know this motor internally is more stout. again, nothing against this engine! I'm rooting for it, just too early to make claims about it being the strongest subaru engine ever etc. Sorry to hear about the trans issue... Unexpected, doesn't Toyota build the trans? |

On the other board they somewhat attributed the failure to flat foot shifting and the whole catching air part and not letting off the gas. It apparently was quite violent when things got back on the ground... The transmission is built by Alsin.

i say just take it to a road course, and see what breaks first. that would let us know about the tranny, cooling system, brakes, and of course, the engine!

I disagree, I made 370awhp through a ej205+ej22 hybrid for ~10K miles before cracking a ring land. And I abused that motor |

^^^If it only lasted 10k miles it was quite unreliable and didn't prove a thing. My bone stock EJ205 was 350hp and ran 11.7 sec in the 1/4 and was beat to death before it was pulled still running in top shape after 170k miles. Now that's durability.
