He doesn't have to shift, you do. My money is on him. Nothing personal.

My 02 wrx ran 13.3 with a good 1.8 sixty foot and i just had a tbe, act clutch and boost turned up a couple psi running a couple gallons of race gas. I think you could get it. As long as you launch well. Like others said it is an automatic so I doubt he will get a 2.0 sixty foot or better. Does he have big heavy aftermarket rims and ****ty tires?

I don't know why people keep taking about auto being an advantage. I never miss shifts and I can get on the power fast between them. Just go practice. I would take a five k awd launch over an automatic smash the has when the light goes. Also practice before bc rt will be a factor you go as the last yellow light is lit not when you see green

Low 13s - mid 12s. Note the trap speed...he is going to reel you in relatively quickly.

How many passes have you made with this car?

I was undefeated in the mid 70's running straight classes and being bumped up to make a class.....coming from Z Stock. Fast forward to a couple years ago with no drag racing in between. I took my Cobra, which is a mid 12's car and ran consistant 15's. There ya go. Nothing to do with the car, everything to do with driver experience drag racing.

If he is stock, and you have even a little skill behind the wheel you will win. You have around 1k weight advantage

He would maul you up top. HOWEVER, SRT-8s are heavy as hell and suck off the line, so as long as you get a decent launch and don't shift like a dummy you should take him down pretty easily.

This... You'll probably pull a couple car lengths at the start, then it's all about whether he can chase you down...

I don't think its even so much the weight that kills them off the line, they can't hook worth a damn.

My vote is on you provided you can get a 1.8 or less 60 foot. IF you nail a 1.8 or less you should be high 12's easy. These SRT8's take a while to get moving.

As a former Subaru dealership tech, former "tuner", former NASIOC vendor and former STI owner (and WRX, and one of the most ridiculous FXTs on earth) and now current Mustang owner, I would never

EVER

Under any circumstances, trade my Mustang for another Subaru.

Yes, my Subies were faster. There is more to what makes a good car than being fast. And don't even try to bring up build quality on the Mustang That glass house has a garage full of subies. Both cars have their issues there.

*NOTE*
This is speaking of 05+ Mustangs. The previous years were piles of garbage.

Oh, so you must be a professional. Where's your consistent slips from the track of you never missing a shift and your amazing 60 fts?

Fact of the matter is, if the OP is just another guy with a fast car (like a lot of us here), it's on him to win the race off the line. A/Ts offer much more room for error, where as the OP can either cut a 1.7 60ft, or do something wrong and end up with a 2.2 or 2.3. Either the SRT8 is going to mash the gas too hard and end up with a 2.2, or manage the throttle well and get a 2.0 60ft. Not a whole lot of screwing up to be done.

an auto with a good stall + slicks or ET streets >>>> AWD any day of the week. (given similar whp). I'm real excited to see how it turns out.

Yea? The new 5.0 is 420 horsepower in stock trim with factory warranty. Don't get me wrong, like others have said both cars have there good and bad aspects but as far as stock for stock comparison, the mustang will absolutely destroy rexes including my sti when it comes to which is a quicker road car. then again come winter time and its an entirely different story.

What year of SRT 8 is it? The newer ones are running the 6.4hemi which puts down more power then the 6.1hemi did. There's no doubt those cars are damn fast, especially once they get going.
