Both me and my tuner were both very impressed with the response of this turbo. We actually ran out of injector...at 26-27 psi, this turbo should make 470-490 WHP.
It actually spoools very fast for the power that it makes. |

Probably...down the road. Didn't really want to have to put aftermarket fuel rails on it...looks really clean this way. I'm really happy with it right now...and as an autocross car, it makes more than enough power.
Now i just have to re-learn how to drive it with 100 more WHP. |

How is running higher comp pistons? I'm in the process of building a 2.1 stroker and am advised to stay away from higher compression because it's mote knock prone.

Havn't had any issues. The off-boost response is excellent and the engine takes boost like a champ. Tuner did not have any knock issues when tuning the car. he actually wished we had had a bigger injector or more fuel pressure to turn the boost up.

E85 has tons of margin in it at stock CR. You sure will see these issues with a 0.5-1 point CR bump on pump gas, but on E85? Shouldn't see knock with such a small bump in compression.

Pretty excited to see this seeing as I have a 71HTA on order my self. Although I'm putting mine on a stock 2.0L in a 2003 WRX. I'll be running pump gas as well, so I'm not expecting these kind of numbers. Either way that's pretty impressive.
Have you seen this turbo on a 2.0L? I wonder how much different it will spool...I'm getting my stock manifold ported with a new crosspipe and EWG. |

No, no AVCS, which i'm regretting just a little bit with this build. I think the power would have come on a lot smoother and a bit sooner with it. Quote:
I would personally think this turbo really needs E85 to perform the way it was designed. As stated above, it was originally developed for use in higher boost applications. Last edited by Squidz; 10-04-2012 at 10:12 AM. |
