BOOYAH! We got our's September 29th! Usually drops mid to late October. I bought 16" snow tires for the BRZ on Sunday. I was on the fence about them, debating spending much more for a new setup, but waking up and seeing snow changed my mind REAL quick.

Did you get rid of the DGM WRX for the BRZ? If not, why not just drive the WRX during the winter and keep the BRZ for the nice months.

I haven't picked it up yet. There's some drama going on. These people that want to buy my WRX are going to make a final decision early Friday or tomorrow after the test drive on Thursday. If they buy it, all is good, but they HAVE to buy it Friday since I'm at the end of my pre-approval term and the drama with fixing the WRX's transmission brought down my credit score to where I'd have to pay more out-of-pocket and get a higher rate for the BRZ if I tried to pre-approve again. Money's tight, WRX is lame, BRZ is here, private sale would rock, trade-in value sucks. Nutshell.

Even if I could keep both permanently, this WRX is like a crazy girlfriend that I'm just waiting to be stabbed by sometime in the future.

I actually have plenty of experience driving RWD vehicles in the snow. We have 2 at the moment at the house: GMC Envoy and Chevy Silverado. I had a Nissan Pathfinder before, RWD, and I kept that longer than most of the Subaru vehicles I've owned. If the BRZ wouldn't have been officially revealed in November or so of 2011 I totally would've got a 2012/2013 Impreza.

just be careful with the BRZ in snow. judging from your list of cars, you definitely aren't new to RWD but just keep in mind that the BRZ has no weight to it. just like my S2000 (your has a lot less than what i had) it can be a bit challenging. but i get where you are coming from, my S2000 was my crazy girlfriend. I had nightmares about wrecking it. rain, snap over steer, snow, blown-up parts a lot of ways to kill me.

Sorry for the late reply. I removed the air cleaner to get the passenger, after which I had no problem getting my hand in to twist out the socket. The driver side was much more of a squeeze but it can be done.

Well it is a Ford after all, so I guess they had to compensate for that somehow; hence, MyFord Touch.

The headlights look cool on the XV, being projectors with LED accents and all.

haha! Thanks. At 28 I think I'm finally ready to drive more responsibly and defensively. I've been practicing with the WRX. I'm pretty good at planning my routes to avoid steep hills and such. The car won't be used much beyond commuting to and from work.

My brain's weird because part of my hesitation with getting the 2012 Impreza was that I was done with Alaska beating up on my cars. Having an AWD Subaru, I've always volunteered my vehicle for doing everything, no matter the weather or time of day. Inevitably this banged up my WRX. I KNEW that if I got the 2012 Impreza I'd get it all banged up, too, and I just wanted a break from it, something I wouldn't be gung-ho about driving everywhere.

Eventually I'll talk my mom into the new Impreza, and my dad is looking to get one for his wife. My friends really want to get the Crosstrek, but they just bought a duplex, so that might not happen until Fall of 2013. If I pay off the BRZ in 2-3 years I would like to get a new Impreza, in hatch form. Probably a Base model so that I can spend the money on cosmetic mods.

I'd give it the Crosstrek front bumper and wheels.

I think those projectors are only for candian xv's and i cant find a pic of them. all the pics i see look like reflector housings.

from subaru canada website "Headlights: Contoured multi-reflector Xenon High Intensity Discharge (HID) (low beam) with auto leveling"

I'm pretty sure the Canadian Imprezas have access to those HID headlights too. I even see reference to them in my Owner's Manual.

I'm sure that would be pricey for us in the USA to add as a post-purchase upgrade.

All the top end models in Canada have some form of HID headlights. But they're not available as an option on the models that don't come with them standard.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen auto-leveling HIDs that weren't also projectors.

Car did ok this morning in the crap weather. Was able to maintain about 55-60 through 3" of snow/slush on the road. Any faster and i definetly outdrove My headlights and started to hydroplane. I had to cruise in 4th gear for the most part because 5th was just taking way too much throttle to cut through that crap. I passed everyone i encountered and even semis were doing 35-40mph. I did have to slow down a few times because the car would get stuck in grooves/tire marks.

Overall I'm pretty impressed with my first awd/subaru crap weather experience!
