Starting to accumulate enough parts to just build a Rex from scratch before mine even shows up. But will I stop? Course not.

I have few questions, maybe someone on the inside can answer.

When and how does the Subaru order system work?

I understand that the orders can be placed at any time but how they are filled is whats confusing to me...is there a specific cut off date for the next batch of orders?

I placed my order with Beard Subaru of Hyannis, MA on Sept 29th. I watched him fill out the order and submit it but there was NO VON. He said my VON will be generated once Subaru recognizes the order.

Is there a monthly cut off date?

Planet Subaru of Hanover, MA said something about Oct 10th, that if my dealer calls and has a VON by that date then I made the next order allocation for Subaru of New England? Is that true?

In that case he said to figure 6-8 weeks for delivery.

I ordered a SWP (5 door) with 5 options. No Nav.
I locked in my price and trade value, and put a $500 deposit down.
Does the deposit ammount effect how subaru fills the orders? Whats the normal amount people are putting down to order?

I just ordered mine yesterday and I got a VON as soon as they submitted the order. The paper they printed out says "Sold Order" on the top and then the first thing it lists is the VON. They told me that my car will be here in January of 2013, but apparently everyone has been getting their's a month earlier than what the ETA was as long as they didn't order navigation.

Also, I put down a nonrefundable $1,000 deposit because I got them down to, what they say is, a ridiculous price so they wanted to make sure I didn't screw them over once the car gets here. Being 20 and buying a brand new WRX has it's downsides I guess...

yep think I saw verbiage that mine came thru canada and then down so I am assuming the cars are starting to make it out east. This dealer actually had 6 delivered friday and mine came in either yesterday or the day before. The sales guy just happened to notice it coming out of the delivery inspection. Thanks can't wait to get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could tell you more about the order system, but you are part of Subaru of NE which is totally different than Subaru of America.

The only thing I can speak to 100% is the last 2 questions.

No, Subaru does not fill orders based on amount of deposit at all. In fact Subaru of America does not even verify in any way that the dealer actually took a deposit. Orders are filled based on what Subaru of Japan (Fuji) sends over on the boats. Subaru of America sends over estimations of what they need for their regions, months in advance, and Japan does their best to fill those requests as a whole.

To my knowledge, Subaru of NE does not use VON's. I did not receive one with my order, and when I saw people getting them, I called my dealer to ask. He said that they don't use them. I'm assuming that he meant Subaru of NE as a whole, because it seems like no one in New England has received one.

Nice...seems little bit far out though to have an exact date. Maybe you will get lucky and it will move up.

I'm beginning to think posting here somehow increases the chances of things happening. I posted yesterday I was worried about selling my car and then sold my car later in the day. I posted this morning that it would be nice if my car showed up early so I wouldn't have to worry about transportation to work...

And I got an email a few minutes later that my car showed up early!!! It was estimated for 10/11. I'm so excited right now. I ordered my tires this morning (Bridgestone RE970AS) and I'm going to have the bushings done right after the inspection.

I'm going after work to see my new baby!!!

I'll post up some pictures as soon as I have them, hopefully the rest of you guys who have been waiting get some luck on your side as well!

Got the go ahead from the dealer - base hatch at 500 under invoice and add ons at dealer cost. Options - boost gauge, short shifter, fogs, auto dimming mirror/compass, arm rest extension, cargo tray, all weather floor mats, rear bumper cover, cargo tray. Price is $25779 (includes dest charge).

I feel like this is a pretty good deal, I didnt even shop around, just shot the one guy a couple of emails.

Looks like I'll be placing an order tonight or tommorow.

I'm two hours west of Chicago, I'm pretty sure if his driver isn't yours then mine is. Mine got here today instead of 10/11, so good chance you guys will arrive even sooner than they told you

i got the spt exhaust as well, man love the sound of that boxer engine.

Wilde in waukesha has a few sitting on their lot. they had 6 come in last friday all sold by monday. I got mine right at dealer invoice couldn't complain they thru in tint as well.

I am somewhat baffled though with these cars in hot demand that the dealer isn't selling above invoice? any one have a clue. I am guessing they make their money no matter what.

originally was 10/15, then 10/8. I'm really crossing my fingers it comes tomorrow so I can pick up Saturday!

I'm prepared for it to be after 10/8 as well, but I'd rather not think about that right now

edit: where are you located? west of Rockford?

I think the majority of wrx/sti owners (or to-be-owners) are well informed, know what they want, and are willing to order and wait for it...and wait for it...and wait for it........to get a good price.

Mine is SLOW, but it's very nice to be in and isn't bad all around. I'd like try out a turbo one sometime to see how it is.

It was a hard adjustment basically coming from an 11 WRX to this. I think I'll have a WRX again, but probably not til next gen.
