I checked my tach wire and I'm getting about 2.5 ac volts. So I have crank signal. Now again that's positive. I've tried learning the tach the way the install guide says and nothing. Now when I put it in auto it does something different. Last night it would just crank and not even pause just keep going unless I pressed the rs button a second time. This morn it would pause then try again. Again I tried to learn crank. I even set it up in the menu under tach when I changed it to auto and same when I went back manual.

Try this.
Switch it to automatic. Switch it to voltage sensing instead of tach. ENSURE VEHICLE IS NOT IN GEAR. Try starting the vehicle. What happens. |

if its switched to voltage and still doesnt fire up, your problem lies elsewhere.
its not because of tach. try this: set brain to automatic. set brain to voltage sensing. get inside vehicle, and press & hold down your clutch pedal. press the remote start function. does the vehicle fire up then or does it still continue to crank forever? is your ignition turning on when you press start or just your accessory? |

I think you just figured out my problem! Clutch engaged it does the same thing, crank crank crank crank until I stop it. But I noticed my cluster doesn't light up at all. No check engine light no bat light nothing just black. Not even the odometer reads. I'll have to check everything on Sunday when I'm off unless I can get to it tomorrow if its slow at work.

Yepp. Youre on the wrong ignition wire then.
There are two sides for the ignition, pending on which side of the plug you are on. Green is ignition on the 98 impreza. Pink wire is the ignition wire off your Viper unit. Hope this fixes it for you my friend! |

Awesome! I'll attempt to do it tomorrow. I've you were standing next to me right now I'd give you one big hug man. My co workers were like why didn't you just install it yourself you? You can do a whole engine harness but not an alarm and at the time I said I've heard so many horror stories that I rather have someone who does it for a living. Stupid me I should have just done it myself and prob would have worked in the first try. Thanks again man ill let you know what happens.
