We took it out of the Subaru box and started bolting parts on it. We didn't check or touch any clearances.

I think we'll have a piston issue due to insufficient ring end gap and/or piston to wall clearance for this power/heat level. A secondary concern is the potential for a main bearing failure.

Sweeet on all stock and yeah I assumed you would say piston issues either because of ring gap or just weak ring land.

450 is no joke as well. I made 425 on my all stock block. Ended up going built motor, should have cranked on it to see what it would do . I'm certain I could have made 500-550 with it using 93 plus methanol but I doubt it would have lasted long if I actually boosted it often!

Yes it's a 2008+ spec US/Canadian STI shortblock with 704 block markings.

Thanks. 6765 turbo, .82 a/r.
I could make it spool a bit sooner and more digitally with different boost control mapping, but it's easier to control the power as I come out of corners this way.

Very nice guys. Car is amazing. The stock short block with the right tuner will go a long way. I never had one issue with mine at 535 to the wheels. Keep up the good work guys.

We are all packed up for Watkins Glen. I did a dyno pull to check a cooling change and power is the same as when I initially tuned the engine so is hanging in there so far. The Glen will be tough though. It's a big track with two long straights that really beat the engine up.

Still going! We just tested the engine after the two days at the Glen and it's hanging in there.

I didn't rev it past 7300 and didn't shift to 6th on the back straight, but logs show almost a minute at full boost per lap so it was no picnic.

I got 20k miles out of my 701. With some c16 fun on the street 32psi slow spool of course helps keep the bearing/rod's happy.

Good job mike hope it hold's. Let us know when the ring lands give. Probably be the first thing no?

Bumper cam on a friend's Mustang. While he is passing a 997 Porsche I go flying by them both and take off. Cold tire wiggle going into 1.

Mike, if this motor doesnt go out by the time you put the built block in, can you guys tear it down with pictures, measurements, etc. For us to see?

We checked the leakdown after this event and it actually got better on a couple cylinders. The stock hone and ring combo takes a while to break in even when running the engine hard.

If it stays in good shape I'd like to leave it alone and keep it as a spare, but I will take pictures and bore measurements at a minimum when we put a built shortblock in. If it's at all questionable when we leakdown test it before pulling it, we'll tear it down and detail everything.

Would you attribute part of its current streak to the vipecs abilities and the tune?
