I am about to change th head unit in my 2011 sti. After reading a few posts on various forums I used my fingers & started at the top & gently pulled (well gently but firmly). The top did start to disengage from the clips but then it stopped.
So not wanting to totally destroy it. . . The question is, is this the right way to remove it?

No correct way, I just used a plastic pry tool in the lower corner to get it started, then pulled the rest out. It's super simple. You won't destroy it.

I've never used a tool of any kind. Just do what you do and if it "stops", move over an inch and repeat.

I used an expired credit card, to get it started on the right hand side, then my fingers afterward.

![]() When I decided to just keep on it came out easy peasy - even went back in. UPS is bringing my new HU on Tuesday & will probably try getting everything in after work. Thanks to all for the reponses! |
