I can't count apparently.

It's still too many and I really do hit the bottom right paddle damn near every time I turn the car off. I'm not sure if it's a function of me sitting relatively close or what. Yes it's a minor quibble and it certainly doesn't make it a bad car but I really do think that having 19 buttons on the steering wheel is excessive and unnecessary.

If your not beating the crap out of it, it feels about as brisk as my old 02 WRX did, maybe a little bit faster, with a little less lag. The nice thing is that you don't have to flog it to get a little pace out of it. I'm sure the drag racers will be sad not being able to launch the car like an AWD or RWD, but deal with it. Overall, I was very impressed. I'd take it over my old 02 WRX and 08 STI any day, but not my old 05 STi. It's a very compelling package and I'd buy one if it were just a little bit faster with a little less torque steer and/or steering feel.

I honestly think my next car will be a used 09 Cayman, put a turbo kit on it, and some Moton shocks and call it a day.
I've been waiting for you to drive one for months, and you don't even review the most important parts.

Ahhh yes...the often-faced decision between a $25k Ford Focus, and a $40k used P-car with a $10k turbo kit and $3/6k shocks.

Now hold on. My real choice is to buy the ST or to keep driving the C300, which is boring as hell, for the next 2 years and then buy a Boss 302 LS or a used Cayman and turbo it. If I get the ST, I know I'm going to want to get something fast in a couple of years after we move closer to work, but I'm stuck commuting right now. If the ST had really blown my socks off, I would have bought it.

The choice is really keep driving a boring but comfortable commuter or buy the ST. I should have been more clear.

Just looked at a Focus Titanium hatch out in the plant yard and they put the wrong spoiler on the damn thing. It's got an ST spoiler hanging off the back. It's not the black pack appearance pkg either.

Oops...

I should be the new owner of a 2013 Focus ST in Performance Blue over the next couple of days.

Can't wait til I get home to drive it. I won't be able to give my opinions on it until December though.

Sat in one on Thursday at the dealer. It sucks being a fat guy, the recaros were most uncomfortable, the sides were digging into my kidneys. My 12 wrx seats are about perfect by comparison. The rest of the interior felt/looked good, the gear box felt tight and the throws seemed reasonable, the dash and steering wheel felt/looked modern and techy.

I didn't drive it, the seats disqualified it as something I would ever purchase. Overall nice car from what I saw.

Ford has royally messed up the US launch of the ST. Magazines should have had examples to fully test two months ago and have comparisons and hard numbers. Their ST Sessions videos were a complete flop and stopped abruptly out of the blue.

just got the new road and track this week, they had a little comparo against the GTI, and MS3. For the most part the ST had the best specs and the most points, with the GTI in second, and the MS3 bringing up the rear. For 270 foot pounds of torque (252 hp), I'd think it might do better than 14.6 in the quarter though, like ha;f a second maybe. Maybe it's those heavy 18 inch wheels. Are they really necessary for a compact hatch? I'd think 17's at most would be appropriate seeing they'd have a little bit taller tire, maybe soften up what they said was a semi harsh rear end. But then again, nothing a little reworking the suspension couldn't handle.
