Listen, I like neek but have no idea why he would highlight a personal situation in the thread. Since he's well respected, everyone else followed as a lemming.

I explained it was said jokingly and didn't take away from her accomplishment.

Then you come in as some all knowing deity and try to attack my athleticism. Good job chief. I'm quite confident I hold my own.
I submit to the all knowing deity known as SCGT. But seriously, I'm not attacking anything, I'm just calling it as I see it. If you want to criticize someone on MMA, fitness, you should post a video of what you can do. Otherwise you sound like a bitter and jealous poser that just wants to criticize other peoples accomplishments.

She is a badass, neither of which makes her a spartan or a warrior, to claim so discredits those that have come before us and will come after us that make sacrifice greater than sweat in a gym. Don't agree, cool. Next topic.

I was talking to an old friend who happens to be the one that convinced me to CF. I'm only 3 months in (including a month of OnRamp), and was whining that I am not 100% fit or buff yet (mind you I started from scratch, worst shape ever, heaviest, bad mental spot from divorce, etc, and in the grand scheme of things I've only been working out less than 12 weeks). I mentioned a few things that had improved, just wasn't seeing the increases physically, not seeing clothing sizes drop like rocks, etc. He was mentioning he still struggles with double unders, which surprised me since he's all buff, a level 1 coach, etc.

Which brings me to this: what could you not do within the past year that you can now do? For me, I'm going with box jumps. When I started I could so maybe 5 on the 8" box, and the other day I pushed through 20 without too much trouble. Looking forward to owning the 8" enough to move up to 12". My friend swears I'll be up to the 20" eventually, which I laugh at because that's exactly 1/3 of my height

For me it is:

1. Strict pull up, and I went from maybe 1 to 6-7 straight
2. Rope climb
3. Kb swing. I when I started I was struggling with 35 now i can do the 70lbs
4. HSPU. I couldn't even get to the wall let alone do 1

Speaking of DU's, we did Flight Simulator yesterday (5-10-15-20....45-50-45-40...10-5). I got 45, then hit my foot at 49 trying for 50. Kinda took the fight out of me.

3 months, you're just warming up still.
I'd kinda plateaued with weight loss around then after a quick 20 early going from 0 to crossfit at the start. I was only starting to rx occasional stuff and finish more of them by 3 mo. My kipping pull ups had just shown up. It was also when I fitness kinda caught up and crossfit stopped destroying me as bad.

In the 9 month since I've got hspu and box jumps.
Butterfly Pullups are starting and I think if I get the nerve to try I could work out a muscle up soon. It's more or less a 6mo goal from here.

don't even talk to me about MU or DU. i swear to god, i can't remember the last time that something frustrated me as much. i have been working on DU for almost a year now and i just can't seem to get any better at them. i can link maybe 4-5. as for the MU, it has been my goal for the past 3 months and i think that i am almost there. the MU is such a technical skill and combines so many different elements that a lot of it becomes mental.

In the last year I've learned how to do a muscle up and HSPU. A lot of people think that muscle ups are all about strength which isn't true. I was as strong when I couldn't do them as I am now that I can do them. But one day the technique just clicked.

As for handstands, they always hurt my shoulder so I had to start up for awhile with holds to get my shoulder used to the position. Now they don't pinch when doing them.

muscle up is pretty much a combo of chest to bar and rings dips. if you can do these you can do a MU strength wise. like you said though, it is mostly technique and you need to learn how make everything click together.

What's double unders?....

Nevermind..... Double rotation on jump rope. Gonna try later. Coming from mma background I should catch on with the speed rope. Looks intense.

It's different. I can work the rope from boxing and wrestling but speedy singles, whether forward, backwards, skipping - whatever - are so different from the double unders.

Those double unders, they suck. I hate the speed rope even with singles. Prefer my thicker leather rope with bearings in the handles.

Not saying you won't be able to do it, just forewarning that its much different from other jump rope skills that Rocky teaches.

My random workout of the evening.

I just ran a mile with my 65lb bag on my shoulder to the pullup bars.

10 strict form pullup
20 situps
20 wide pushups
20 shoulder presses with 65 lb bag
10 squat jumps with 65 lb bag
25 yd sprint

Do it 5x... (I did this with a 30lb slam ball the first time and it killed my arms. Bulgarian bag you can sling across your back.)

1 mile back home.

41 minutes and some change for me.

We use it on our outpost all the time...we don't always have access to the gym so we make it work...it is extremely effective when used properly
