Default MD: 2007 STI Black 31k $23,000

2007 Subaru Impreza STI Black 31,000 miles

Silver Spring, MD

I bought this beauty in Feb 2009 with 16,800 miles. I am the 2nd owner and all the factor installed parts listed below were installed by the first owner when he purchased the car. I had intended to own this car for 20+ years when I bought it which is one reason why it is in such good shape (I'm also a designer so I make sure things look good). I am selling the car to increase the potential down payment for a house. Houses are EXPENSIVE in the DC area!

Factor installed parts:

STI Short Throw Shifter-6 MT
STI Titanium Shift Knob-6MT
SPT High Flow Air Intake System
SPT Heat Shield- High Flow Air Intake System
SPT Radiator Shroud
SPT Billet Aluminum Battery Hold Down-Gray
SPT Performance Exhaust System-Cat-Back
SPT Strut Tower Brace - Front
SPT Strut Tower Brace - Rear

After starting to see microscratches in the paint a couple years ago I started to get the car detailed regularly and have done so ever since. The interior has no visible wear like most cars of this age. The car also has Subaru floor mats and the original blue ones. I also have a fitted sunshield. The rims do have wear and the back right it scratched a bit but is repairable.

The 30,000 mile maintenance was done at 29,500 and always used synthetic oil.

I had bad luck within a year of buying the car and it was broken into in a gated parking garage. I had all the damage repaired (steering column and passenger seat upholstery) which included the front passenger carpet. Apparently the thieves tried to get the ECU but just ripped the carpet without taking anything. You can see the carpet is slightly darker where it was repaired if the floor mat is removed. At some point the passenger occupancy detector failed but I don't know when since I rarely had a passenger in the car. The dealership said it would cost ~$350 to replace.

The car was autocrossed fairly regularly over those 3 years but no modifications were made except putting on good tires. I also did 2 track days, the last of which was a month ago where I was unfortunate and tapped a tire wall. The front bumper, passenger headlight and front quarter panel were replaced and repainted at a local body shop (thus the

STI sticker on the passenger side fog light cover). Though I raced I did it for fun and not competition. As any autocrosser knows the tires and brakes take the most abuse. The current tires have some life left but not a lot. The front brakes were replaced in March of this year.

KBB lists the car in excellent condition for $29,932 and good condition for $28,532 without all the SPT parts.

*** Update 1: Got new brake pads all around and an synthetic oil change.
*** Update 2: Car is paid off and waiting for new title (title almost in hand).
*** Update 3: Got new battery and have title in hand!
*** Update 4: New photos add after exterior and interior detail.

I've got a couple of questions. Do banks give loans by what kbb values a car at?? I usually see them use NADA if anything (which puts this car at 24K and change clean retail).

I'm interested in the car, I just don't understand how it's considered "excellent" condition? It has accident history (even non reported accidents are still accidents) with body parts replaced and paint work. It's been robbed causing damage to this inside. It needs a $350 sensor and it will need 4 new tires (good tires are not cheap). Excellent condition usually means needs nothing, this needs at least a few things on top of any potential future owners ignoring the accident history. I'm not trying to break balls here, but it seems there are several others with less miles for sale in the $24k territory.

I'll offer $23k cash without the SPT stuff and because of the accident history.

Thanks for your interest. I do wonder why the KBB and NADA prices are so different. I am not sure what a bank gives car loans against. I bought the car from a dealership so got the loan through them and didn't deal directly with the bank.

NADA defines Clean retail as follows:

Clean Retail|Clean Retail values reflect a vehicle in clean condition. This means a vehicle with no mechanical defects and passes all necessary inspections with ease. Paint, body and wheels have minor surface scratching with a high gloss finish and shine. Interior reflects minimal soiling and wear with all equipment in complete working order. Vehicle has a clean title history. Because individual vehicle condition varies greatly, users of NADAguides.com may need to make independent adjustments for actual vehicle condition. Note: Vehicles with low mileage that are in exceptionally good condition and/or include a manufacturer certification can be worth a significantly higher value than the Clean Retail price shown.

My car meets all of that criteria although I don't know what "clean title history mean". Is that no insurance claims? I always took that to mean no structural damage.

The SPT parts came with the car so there are no factory parts to replace them with. It's up to you how good of tires you get. I am willing to bargain but I've not seen anything with as low miles in as unmolested a form (barring repair work of course).

I'll PM you with a counter offer.

Banks go by Nada. Some banks will only loan trade in value, some will do retail.

If you need to finance everything I highly recommend a credit union. My credit union gives me 2.9% interest and lends 125% of nada retail value to cover taxes, there is risk involved if you were to total it though. Credit unions ftw !

I bought my '07 w/ 25k miles for $25k 2 years ago, which was never broke into, didn't have bad parts in it, or ever auto-crossed. I'd jump on slowfourdoor's offer if I were you. Unless you have a cosworth or crawford motor, good luck getting more than $23k for that bud, just saying.

Sallad3, you got one hellauva deal! Good find.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm bummed to see the KBB value so misleading. I've dropped the price a good bit to see if that piques the interest at all.

To provide some perspective, I paid $26.5k for my 2007 with 14k miles on the ODO.

Not to mention it was bone stock and it will be three years ago next month.

As you can guess by the low mileage, the car wasn't used that often. Generally once a week or so and to the occasional autocross. It got most the miles I put on it from driving to Baltimore and back for evening MFA classes. I attended the SCCA autocross events at Fedex field when I could, so that is probably the only place we could have crossed paths.

^^Hey look its Logan haha.

But I'd take it off your hands for 21K Cash. Hundreds or Twenties or check whichever floats your boat. Mostly cause the car has been abused on the track and been broken into.

Thanks for the offer, but I can't go that low. I also disagree with your definition of "abused". I've seen cars that were abused and this is far from it though no denying it has been repaired. I know there are STIs out there that the sellers claim were never "driven hard," but that is either a shame or a lie. These cars were designed to be driven hard.

You can find some awesome STIs on this forum and autotrader with tons of mods and high miles for that price though.

What offer would you take? 25k for a car that's been tracked and auto crossed is kinda high.
