This is awful. Be careful out there folks. Stuff like this happens so fast.

4 dead, 1 in the hospital w/ unknown injuries

Seen car crashes like this dozens of times being in the fire service, slow down guys if you wanna speed get onto a closed course...Tree's & poles don't wanna move when you hit them.

Holy carp........they had to of been moving for that carnage. This reminds me of a GT2 RS crash I just saw, 160mph head on into a semi........nothing left.

That many people in the car would definitely compromise the handling at high speeds.

Truth but nothing good happens at 3:40 AM on slick roads and high speeds. One of those guys could have told the driver to slow down....

being that it was very very cool wet temps late 30's to 40 degree doesn't help . Especially with those summer tires .
People please throw on the winter tires and slow down.

That's an Sti Limited, isn't it? Man what a shame for everyone involved. It looks like the car deployed a lot of protection, but it can't work miracles. Such a shame.

From the books found, sounds like kids. I bet we find out alcohol or drugs were invovled. Sad for all.

It sounds like they need to build a guardrail.

STis and Subarus in general are built like brick **** houses. They had to have been going triple digit speeds to split the car in two like that. It reminds me a lot of this accident:

Folks, this is why you don't give a child a high performance automobile.

And, after that, I'm sure some 16 year old is going to come in here and tell me how safe of a driver they are in their STi......

Things like this are never a good thing to happen. I feel for their families.

Now that being said, you have to wonder what went down, alcohol? drugs? Just having fun? Either way, take it to the track!

Sorry, I don't agree. It's the first week in October. Yes, while it was an abruptly chilly night...

It's unreasonable to expect someone to change their tires so early in a season due to a single dramatically cooler night. probably wasn't even on his radar.

More importantly, while a summer tire doesn't grip as well in 40 degree weather as 80 degree weather, it still has plenty of grip at those temps to drive plenty plenty fast on. Certainly worlds more grip than would be needed to drive at anything close to safe speeds for that highway.

The tires were 10000% not the cause of the accident. Presumably, a very very bad driving error was.

Tires wouldn't help with mental deficiency. Kids are stupid and handing them a high power car will make them want to be the cool kids who show off. It's a strong message that people ignore. Responsibility on the road is key.
