A bobcat or cougar got my outdoor cat and my indoor cat that dreamed of being an outdoor cat.

As ruthless and efficient as they are, they're still middle-chain predators.

Here at my house in Oregon, and at my house in Alaska my cat Putz (died at the age of 22 last week) was a one cat murder squad the second year I had him, he lined up his morning kills in front of the door like cord wood, same when I got home from work.

But in both places he was just replacing other local predators, I live where there are foxes/coyotes/hawks/falcons/Owls/other mid sized predators, and it kept him happy and fit, and he rarely ever got song birds, and my humming birds have moved their nests into a tree near the house he spent a lot of time under, where he killed predators that would have gone after them.

In both places I had/have several acres of dense wooded land, I don't feel bad, keeps the coyotes away and the falcons and owls are wary of hunting songbirds/doves/grouse/quail/pheasants on my property and for some reason never seems to kill them himself as can be see by the frequent appearance of quail in the yard. It is a manner of management, if it got out of hand I would have housed him, but after his reign of terror year in Alaska it was only a couple a week, usually voles and mice .

I have a fat generally lazy golden retriever that for some reason has a talent for killing moles, I do nothing but encourage this.

But I have land, if I lived in a city I would not have a murder cat I let out to kill the local fauna, not enough of it and he would be upsetting the balance of an area not designed to have mid sized predators, so I can see places where it would be a big problem.

I probably only bothered to post this because I miss him...

My cat wont kill a thing. Ive watched him with a cornered field mouse before and he just plays with it. Even with bugs in the house it plays with them. Annoying as hell...lazy cat do your job.

While it was the re-hosting of images (and failure to remove) that got funnyjunk into trouble and eventually got The Oatmeal to buy Teslas lab... hotlinking to copywritten images is against this forum TOS, yeah? At least I thought it was...

3. I'm giving proper attribution, not taking credit for them like that other site did.
With a link... not "I found these on The Oatmeal and posted because a cat poisoned me" or "Copyright The Oatmeal, linked and shown here without permission because a cat told me to in my sleep."

I love The Oatmeal as much as the next guy, but what you did indulges a slippery nipple slope.

I like the Oatmeal. Good stuff. ...and don't worry banman, you credited them fine enough with a link.

People have probably heard of NBC or the New York Times. That doesn't stop them from complaining about threads that don't post the actual content.

Like I said, mods' call. It's half a dozen of one or six of another.

As if the wording of the attribution actually makes a difference? If copyright is the issue, then the copy-and-pasting of any news story is just as bad.

we have two cats...one is a cold blooded killing bitch...the other couldn't care less. It will just play with a mouse in the house, the other one tosses them around like she's a Rancor monster...

That rabbit must have known the cat wasn't going to try to harm it because it would have probably tore the **** out of that cat if so. Rabbits can be ruthless.
