Mechanic in San Jose Area?

I have a few mechanical jobs I need done for my 03 WRX that I don't want to do myself.

Any recommendations for good subaru mechanics in San Jose that will not rip you off?

Those are all awesome vendors that have been awesome to the local subaru community.

Also Mann Engineering is in SJ. So Mann and AutoHQ are your best bet in the area guaranteed.

I've been to Mann once already, and would definitely recommend them. Gary is a nice guy and they point out things that need attention.

Tell them Austin sent ya, if you ever go.

Are there any great independent Subaru garages like Garage One in the Sacramento area? I need a head gasket repair on my 2002 Forester with 73,000 miles.

I've had Kevin at AutoHQ Redo my head gaskets and a bunch of other maintenance surrounding the short block, car feels better than a brand new EJ251 in 2000! Runs strong and no problems til today, been a little over 2 years now. Catch him when hes in town, because he does take vacations some times.

I have used the dealership before, but they charge you top price for everything.

I would rather use a independent.

Where is Ricks? Do they know subaru's that well?

totally understand wanted to keep it out of the dealership and support a smaller shop. SC Subaru services my wife's car under warranty and mine when it was under warranty. Now that mine is not under warranty it pretty much only gets touched by me/friends and GST.

If your going to go anywhere in San Jose go to speed element. Ryan is the most knowledgable about subby's...their prices are the best..turn around time is amazing..and they are the most trust worthy. I've brought my 04 STi to them a couple of times and they always help me out. They're gunna be doing my front mount swap and a new up pipe. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.
