Hello all. Bought my WRX a few weeks ago. 103k miles, manual, only mod at the time was a Greddy Evo catback. Car felt fine, seemed to boost smooth. Last week, I bought a Cobb AP, tuned it to stage 1, drove around and was happy with the performance boost. Car felt much better. Gas mileage has been pretty bad since, dropping from ~27mpg mixed, down to around 22mpg mixed, and I have not been driving with a lead foot. I installed a boost gauge a few days after the tune and noticed the gauge was only reading 10psi. The car hits 10psi like a brick wall, I have only seen it go above 10 psi once, and it hit MAYBE 12 psi. I hooked up the AP and it sees 10 psi as well...
Where are the common spots to check in hopes of resolving this problem? I have owned several turbo cars (all Volvo before this one) and I was thinking wastegate actuator? I am still learning the ins and outs of the WRX. Thanks in advance!

on a stage 1 flash the target boost is 12 pounds on the ACN 91 map, and 14.5 +or-1psi. whats the exact map flash you have? also things to check are
-vacuum lines around the boost controller \ waste gate -make sure restrictor pill is present -test the boost solenoid make sure its functional also are running the stock wrx top mount? i had a similar issue with the stock coupler, it had a tiny crack in it. |

I am using the stage 1 93guy octane map.
I am not familiar with the restrictor pill, sounds kind of like headlight fluid, LoL. I am currently away at training with limited time to check things. I want to formulate a strong plan of attack and execute it as soon as i get home. Thanks for the replies, I will report back. |

you should be boosting around 14.5 give or take 1 psi. thats a great link i was just gonna post it up you can feel for this "pill"
it should be there if you haven't changed the lines around at all. whats your DAM (Dynamic Advanced Multiplier) at also? i hear a low DAM on the Acessport the car goes into "failsafe" to check that go monitor > scroll down > Dynamic Adv. Mul. i think thats what they use and tell us the number that shows up! if thats not the case then we will have to do a quick data log and take a look into your boosting characteristics. but this will be later. on a side note the waste gate opens up at 8psi... so the solenoids somewhat working start small, keep us posted |

You say you installed a boost gauge. Why don't you watch your boost levels on the AP and compare? It will give you current psi, and max and min down below it while you are displaying it. Also, do a third gear pull and check boost. I don't think the AP tunes hit max boost in 1st and 2nd.
