Short term summary, its braking while your in the turn/apex in order to set your car up in position to come out of the apex in the area you want it too.
On topic: Anyone here have some RSM9's or RP03's? I love the look of these especially and just wanted to see if anyone else has them.

About to order some RPF1s today and wanted some opinions from you guys. They will be my "track wheels" for autocross.

Reason: I want light weight and wider than stock without extensive fender modifications. I need some input on what size tires to run and widest possible wheel.

As of now I want to order the RPF1 in SBC 17x8 +43. I will be going with Toyo R888 in 245/40/17.

This will be going on an 07 STI lowered on Eibach sport springs. First of all any comments on the fitment or what will be required to fit them are welcome. Second, should I opt for a 245/45 instead of a 40 series?

I am currently running 245/45 on my stock BBS and they fill the fender wells nicely and no rubbing even in autox. So I assume I would still be able to run a 45 series on a slightly wider wheel? Is the shorter sidewall more desirable for autocross?

Just want some feedback on this before I go spend well over 2k on something to find out I should have done something else.

Also, it is my understanding that an 8" wheel is the widest you can go without fender mods? I know this has been covered before but I want to go widest possible in a 17" without extensive modifications so please help me stay on the right track. If I were to go to a 8.5" wheel how much fender mods would need to be done?

Before someone tells me to research. I have been researching for months now. I've read thread after thread and have learned a lot. I am now down to the wire and just want to verify my research has lead me in the right direction.

Check out Drew's blog: http://t3hclap.com/

Contact him, he is one of the smartest guys i know about STI suspension/wheel/tire combos. He ACTUALLY knows what he is talking about and most of it is from personal experience or through the experience of others that he has personally witnessed. He personally helped me with my autocross set up.

Also check out IWSTI, there is a lot of good info on there.

I'm not sure where you're finding 17x8 +43mm SBC, it may have been a custom run. I know there is a 17x8 +45mm and 17x8.5 +40mm.

have you read my fender mod articles? this is the one you'll need if you opt for the 17x8.5 +40mm with a 245/40/17.

T3hClap.com Fender Mod 05-07 STI

Follow that step by step and you'll be rub free without issue.

The stock wheels are 17x8 already so going to a 17x8 +43(or 45mm) will only lower the offset of your current setup not change the width.

The +45mm on stock fenders and standard lowering springs can work with a 245, but some people still require fender work depending on their specific vehicle, rear camber, and driving style. (current status of springs/struts have something to do with it too).

feel free to shoot me a PM or email if you want to get into more detail.

Bad info from my wheel supplier. I was also incorrect in thinking my factory wheels were 7.5".

So thank you clap for saving me from that bad decision. Ill send you a PM now

RPF1 17x9 +35 (5x100) with Federal RSR 235/40/17. Mounted them last night at Broken Motorsports in Union City, NJ. Will get more pics this weekend.
I wanted to add that I'm lowered on Mach V springs (mild drop) with rear fenders rolled flat. I'm running stock camber and I have zero rubbing. If I went to a 245/40 Star Spec or AD08 I may rub just slightly since they are a little wider than my Federals.

And thanks Drew!
