When I first decided to get one there was only like 1 or 2 companies making knockoffs and they were all FRP. I had one but wasn't that happy and found a pretty decent deal on an OEM unit from a member that was stationed in Japan at the time. Now that urethane knockoffs are readily available that's what I will be going with next.

Only major difference besides the STi badge are the OEM has a far better out of the mold finish, a nice matte black finish and it also has some nicer hardware with the metal mounting tabs.

You can buy the metal mounting tabs and bolts at the dealership for cheap. That's what I did with my replica.

I mean that some of the mounting areas on the lip itself that are molded plastic on the knockoffs and actually riveted on metal tabs on the factory lip. Not the actual mounting hardware.

Right, but is this the same sort of mold? Ie will need STi splitters? or is that unique to the 04-05s?

Different mold because the 04-05 and 06-07 bumpers are different

replica lips dont fit as good, thats why they are replicas and cost less.

people have mounted v-limited without splitters, its been covered and is on the forum somewhere.

i have a v limited rep and splitters and it still doesnt fit right. i had to add additional hardware to hold it flush the the bottom of the bumper.

just get the splitters and dremel out your bumper for the tabs and use double sided tape.

they vary depending on manufacturer. i've seen replicas fit as good as pricey ones, and ive seen them look like they werent even made for the car. I'm unsure which replica mine is, but it required a few extra bolts, can't even tell now that its on.
