Default Submersible fuel hose for E85 solution

I really dont know if this has been touched on yet but I found a great fuel hose made by Gates that is Submersible, rated up to 225psi and can save you gas lol.

I found it at my local CarQuest for about 39 cents/inch

There are now 3 types so pay attention

First is the Submersible bio-fuel hose
4219 which is a J30r10. part# for this hose are

27093 1ft
27080 10ft

"Barricade" bio-fuel hose
4219BF which is a J30R14. Part #

27335 2ft
27348 15ft
27340 25ft
27345 250ft

standard bio-fuel hose
4219D, this is a J30R9 part #

27085 10ft
27095 25ft
28001 300ft

If you go to CarQuest they will sell these hoses by the Inch or you can buy online at Jegs.com

and new Barricade SAEJ30R14TW

From their site v v v

Barricade Fuel Line Hose with GreenShield Technology
  • BEST-IN-CLASS working psi of 225 (for fuel injection)
  • Lowest permeation rate on the market 1 gr/m2/day
  • Exceeds California Air Resources Board (CARB) and EPA requirements
  • Multi-fuel compatible: Approved for use with leaded and unleaded Gasoline, Diesel, Biodiesel†, E-85, 100% Methanol, ETHANOL and gasohol fuels
  • Performs 5x better for permeation than the nearest competitor
Yes i looked up Permeation and its basically the amount of fuel lost through the hose. With this hose you will save up to 1gal a year of gas but I honestly dont know what kind of fuel they based this on.

well here is a sales pitch vid if anyone cares

and the site http://www.gates.com/brochure.cfm?br...cation_id=5348

Again, Thanks for your time!

Huh....sounds good to me. Little steep @ $5/foot though. But if you only have to buy it once, who cares.

What I really liked is being able to get it in a pinch.

Other shops near me in Socal are a good hour drive and only carry Teflon and that stuff can't be clamped.

I would have to think $$ for the ends/fittings and Labor.

Ballin' on a budget here guys lol

I got a foot of this stuff, about 3" in a jar of E85, for about 3-months now, still looks minty fresh. I ended up not being able to use it. If Im remembering correctly, the biggest you can get it is 3/8(?), anyways too small for what I was doing. Its not very flexible either, well, not compared to PTFE convoluted fuel tube..... Im sure it will work great for some.

I understand the budget concerns. My fuel system build is on hold while I put a little extra away to do it right the first time.

Napa carries submersible fuel hose. Its expensive though. I think it was around $15 for a foot of it prepackaged.

From the Barricade brochure:

"Q: Can Barricade hose be submersed in gasoline?A: NO. For fuel line hose that will be submersed in gasoline, use Gates Submersible Fuel Line Hose which is specially engineered for constant contact with gasoline (and other liquid petroleum distillates) on the inside and the outside."

So it looks like this hose is good for gas/ethanol/methanol etc. On the inside, but not recommended for immersion.

Just wanted to let you know.

Yeah I also covered the firewall supply and all the return. 3 feet was enough to cover that. And I didn't even have to drop the tank.

Was not referring to you, sorry. Since my car is evolving from a track going street car to a street going track car I don't intend to buy anything for the "right now" stage my car is in, but rather save up for what it will require in the future.

I'm A little confused right now on the specifics of this hose. Im not sure if they changed part #s or specs but now its showing that they have a few differant options of the Gates Part # 4219?

they have the
J30R14
J30R10
J30R9

Each having their own specifications so please double check on what your going to be using this for and go from there. Once I confirm with the sales Rep on whats going on I will update this thread

ok so new info is in the first post

I just added part the part #s in the first post and you can buy online at Jegs.

If you walk into carquest you can get in by the inch but other than that im sure your stuck buying the reels online.

If you have a Napa you can get submersible hose that is the j30r10 part # H209

good luck

Is this the correct hose for E85 submersible 3/8 inch?

http://www.jegs.com/i/Gates/465/27097/10002/-1

Planning in using it for Walbro E85 fp.
