I like this picture, very good quality for a starter dslr, but it seems like something is missing. Maybe the car is kind of blending in with the background?

That shot is so cool. Great idea. I can't wait to get a tripod so I can play around with slow shutter speed stuff!

Yah, that's unedited as well I'm about to pull the trigger on some processing software. Was leaning towards Lightroom, what is everyone else using?

I'm a beginner. I've been seriously shooting less than a year. I use Lightroom4 and couldn't be happier. Very straight forward to use and you can make a big difference with your pictures. Eventually I will move to Photoshop but its a little overwhelming at this time.

Yeah, I want a heavy tripod. I'm not going to races to take pictures. Just want one that can withstand a heavy gust of wind.

Light room here as well. I think cs6 and so on are more of advanced programs. But, in the end every photographer will end up using it. Example, rig shots.

Yeah the cloning capabilities in Lightoom are not very good. It's sufficient for removing small objects but anything large will require photoshop. I don't do rig shots and if I take a picture I try not to put myself in a situation where large objects will need to be cloned out. I guess it all comes down to your needs and what you will be using it for.

Haha - I was just scrolling through this thread for the first time and had a momentary, "What the . . . . hey! that's my car!/I have a photo just like that one" moment. And then noticed the SN.

Depending on how sturdy the legs of the current one you have are and how big/heavy your camera bag is, you could hang your camera bag on your tripod so that the weight of it is suspended between the three legs. It'll withstand a gust of wind. Just a suggestion - no clue what your current set up is.

Dan, Its a good shot but IMO it needs to be framed a little better. If you had the camera straightened like a normal landscape shot i think it would be better. Also the black wheels blend in too much with the black ground, what you could of done was shine an LED white flashlight around the wheels for a few seconds to bring detail to the dark parts of the image (IE light painting); this might require you to play around with the shutter times a bit more but it would give a much nicer image.
