Default Can an Sti Shell support a wrx powertrain?

I have a bugeye that is totaled. The engine and tranny (plus basically everything in the car) is perfect...my problem is I have found a 2004 Sti shell that would be perfect but obviously im running a 2.0 ej205 setup ...is it possible to do a swap like this or would it just be better to rebuild the powertrain on that sti and sell my wrx piece by piece?

it will be fine. the STI shell is all of a set of splitters/wing/few other small do dads more than a wrx...

2,5i guys put STI exterior bits on their cars all the time.

So is the Sti a shell or is it a car with a blown motor? Makes a difference.

What's your skill level?

WE know we are saying is people take STI drive trains and they go into the WRX perfect all the time..so a WRX into a STI would no different. I.E with my limited knowledge on the subject it will work fine...They should be about the same shell anyways

^ I concur. I'm getting at the worth it part. Sti with a blown motor. Sell wrx parts, fix sti. Enjoy car.

this!

the sheet metal aren't 100% the same underneath, but close. you are getting a faster car and the INS. company is rating it based upon you and the faster more expensive car. but mechanically they will accept any subaru drivetrain you wish to install.

i doubt they could be very much different unless you have a bad driving record. theyre both high performance turbocharged cars.

well, thats really nothing in the grand scheme. but i guess it also depends what % change that it. if it goes from 400 to 600, thats pretty substantial. if its 1500 to 1700, not such a big deal. either way though its just 200 bucks, 15 bucks a month
