Unfortunately, I don't have the stock rack. The rack is fine to drive. It's been a year, and I asked the shops who looked at it. But how could you say, "you don't want to send the rack back?"
WE have tried multiple times to ship back the rack. I have taken my car to several shops, had the pump changed. I have been trying to fix this for a year, and have been contacting Qrack, they just ignore us, so it's a loss cause. What more can i do? As I mentioned, when I do the 150,000 service, I will have it throughly looked at again. I don't have a garage. I cannot do it myself. That's that. Quote:

sold it. We (Yimi and I) have literally contacted them trying to get it back to them, as AGAIN, they broke their promise, and said they woud send the info to return it. Can't sent it back without that.
They ignore both of us. Totally unprofessional. |

lol, it's not a matter of the address. THEY HAVE TO PAY YIMI! They would not dare send the rack before getting paid.

well you said you needed the info to ship it, there it is, why can't you ship it yourself or have Yimi ship it? if it is proven to be faulty and they dont give Yimi the money then you have something to stand on, right now you have nothing because you said yourself you are ok with the rack you have even tho you say its defective.. so why were you not happy with the first rack? it did the same thing as the one you have installed.

This thread is great marketing for QRack, who have clearly gone above and beyond to accomodate, when it turned out that the OP was wrong they stopped sending money...makes perfect sense. OP will rant and rave about a contract being broken, but it doesn't matter, he's at fault and is clearly incapable of understanding how the power steering system works. |

you are not getting it.... Call Yimi, and tell them to ship it, without getting paid. See what they say.
It has nothing to with standing on....It is a breach of agreement. |

Has Yimi posted once in thus thread? Why are you so caught up in this? Businesses have ways of dealing with other businesses.

Lol the excuses in this thread are HILARIOUS. "We did not have the address" "a quick google search will find it, here it is" "we'll they didn't pay so we won't send it back". Lol the more you talk, the bigger the hole gets for you.
Yimi are out parts and labor? Yeah well Q-Rack are out $1200 for a perfectly good rack because your car has issues which Yimi have failed to find. Looks like Q-Rack are the ones being screwed over here, and everyone else her (other than you) can see that. Q-Rack sent you a rack without having you send the other back, that's a huge amount of trust on their part. And now we see that the problem isn't the rack and you won't send the old rack back for inspection.......if I were Q-Rack I wouldn't pay you a dime. They did nothing wrong, their part wasn't the problem. Grow the **** up. Last edited by LIQUIDSK8S; 10-16-2012 at 03:42 PM. |

then why are you saying anything, If Yimi was really pissed or worried about it and wanted to voice their opinion then let them. To me it seems they are going to deal with it like good shop would and not drag all this out into the gutter like you have. You have lost nothing in this, they have so let it be.

Installed my QRack. It took a most of the day because I had to reinstall my front brakes, sway bar etc. Even with "eyeball zero toe" it feels pretty good. It shuttered at slow speed for the first run. Then I let it cool while I set all my tire air pressure. On the second run (including parking lots and parking in and out of spots) I only notice some shudder in reverse but it wasn't audible and wasn't violent. I'm going to guess residual air on the system.
What I *did* notice is that it is much stiffer (which is welcome) and has a ***** load of bump steer now, which I'm going to attribute to the whiteline bushings more than the rack itself. It is very stiff now and there is zero play on center so no more SUV effect. I'll have to get used to the bump steer. No biggie. Everything is being transmitted up the steering column now ha ha. Hope that helps. |

Here's my personal experience with Q-Rack.
I ordered a rack from them and they quoted a price, with a credit for a carcass turn-in. 1) During my emails with Tibor, he stated that since I lived in the US and the shipping/customs, etc, might not make the carcass turn-in worth all the B.S.; that he would use one of his existing rack carcass housings for rebuild and wave the turn-in requirement (i.e., turn in pricing with NO turn-in)...Pretty damn good if you ask me. 2) It took a little longer than their originally quoted timeframe to complete the rack build because one of their parts suppliers delivered gears to them (if I remember correctly) which were not of proper finish/quality. They had rectified the problem, switched manufacturers, and as a follow-up quality test, disassembled/reassembled my Q rack using the new part(s), tested the rack in their own car to validate proper operation, and then shipped the completed rack assembly to me in the USA. This was in June, 2011. I have a 2003 WRX with existing PS pump assembly and no issues.... It is an AWESOME product and I have nothing but good things to say about their customer service and quality of work. |

Makes more sense now... I would bet yimi does not post in this thread because it would be crazy for them to do so. There is nothing they can say to set this right until that 'defective' rack gets back to qrack. And if the rack is at yimi then go and get it and ship it. You made the purchase so it most definitely does not belong to yimi (or you for that matter). Qrack gets the rack back, installs it into a shop car, drives around with a camera for proof, and either shows that its defective or functioning. Then yimi will either get there money if defective, or you go back to yimi and get them to install it correctly. Very simple. Make it happen. |

Its too bad to hear that you've haven't been able to get your car to work right with the new rack. When I did my STI rack, my shop had the car for almost 3 weeks before they were able to get it to work right. They kept at it, figured out the issue, and got it working perfectly.
From what I read, you got a Q-rack, they installed it, you had a shudder issue, so the shop convinced Q-rack to send a replacement. Your shop installed the new rack and you still had a shudder. (sound like the rack was good). You had installed a cooler and it sounds like one of the 4 shops tried eliminating the cooler and you still have the shudder. It sounds like someone suggested your pump was bad (sounds likely) but you replaced it with a stock WRX pump. I would have gone with an STI pump which bolts up with a separate reservoir and having to do some rebending of lines. So what does that leave? You still have a lot of lines and seals. My guess is at some point in the process one of our lines got a little kinked or a seal damaged. Your rack is much much faster than stock and puts much more load on the system. You need the pump and lines to be working at 100% or you will have a shudder issue. You can sit on the internet and bitch about your parts supplier, but realistically you should be swapping out lines and seals until you've eliminated parts that could be bad. Once you've eliminated all the potential bad parts and really really worked at eliminating air from the system, then you get to a point where you can be confident that both racks are bad. Unless all 4 of these shops have completed disasembled the system, inspected all the parts and reassambled, the really can't tell you that the rack is bad. Several of the people that have commented on this thread are quite knowledgeable and I'd trust them as much as the shops you've visited. Keep at it. You don't currently have the basis to "prove" Q-rack gave you a bad part. Get your car working right because fast steering without problems is rewarding and worth the effort. |

it's a shame there are no cheaper alternatives. $1200 is a hell of a bill.

Close enough... in sum, I have taken it to a few shops, and none of them can put any blame on any part but the rack... that's all. that's what I have to go off thus far.
It's been almost a year, but I am not giving up, trust me, I want it perfect. Several people here have personally offered to look at my car, and have had it. Hopefully someone can find the issue, but this won't happen over the Internet. As I mentioned, I have delt with the shutter at low speeds and parking. Driving is fine, and I love the quick steering ratio. I should not need a STI pump. I know TONS of people who run wrx ones. Let me make this clear... I am not trying to prove anything to anyone, but I was letting people know what really happened behind the scenes between the shop and Qrack. A promise from one shop to another was broken, and has nothing to do with the rack being defective or not. I mean, you would think that they would have have the courtesy to answer their phone calls. I just find it so odd that they just stopped all communication. Quote:
