Default 2012 wrx dp install

So I'm installing a invidia downpipe on my wrx, and I bought a grimmspeed turbo heatshield. But what about the shield that is underneath on stock downpipe. It doesn't fit with my invidia downpipe. Does it for somehow or do I no need it?

you dont reuse any of the heatshields from the factory downpipe. just wrap the dp in some DEI wrap, get a turbo blacket and use the gs heatshield, you will have better protection than oem..

You mean the existing turbo heat shield? You can trim it with shears or a dremel and make it fit, but a turbo blanket and that Grimmspeed heat shield should be enough in my opinion. Sorry if that's what what you're speaking of. I haven't gotten to the DP on my 2011 yet. Soon.

I installed my dp on my 2011 without re using any shields. I do have my dp wrapped in heat wrap, but nothing is on my turbo at all currently. I am looking to heat wrap that as well however.

That lower heatshield that is attached by two little 10mm bolts under the downpipe flange?

You'll want to have that on because it gives you one attachment point on the left side lower part of the grimmspeed heatshield. Without it you risk rattling annoyance.
