The only change I made to the updated map was to set the initial IAM value to 1 so I didn't have to wait for it to relearn.

On ecuflash 1.32now. Are you able to read the rom without connecting the green connector? Can't read the ROM atm but i wonder if this is due to the ECUTEK tune because this is going to stop me at least somewhere or due to the green connector being unplugged. (06 STi btw) it's getting late so won't go back to the car and fiddle arround under the dash so i might aswell ask.

Strange, I'll try changing the baud rate back. I've never had issues with a real tatrix cable, Just this. Everything works great until WOT, it just craps out. I'll figure it out hopefully

Green connectors need to be connected to read the ROM and/or write to it.

Unconnected for logging and Learning View.

Connected the green plug (i was like wtf with the fans kicking on/off constantly) didn't expect that

But no good couldn't read the ROM. Still no idea wether the software on the laptop is at fault or the ECUTEK tune ... i'm thinking it's the latter since i got pretty much everything to work like "Z" has but it won't read the ROM.

Looks like this is a far as it'l go ditching the tune is not something i'm eager on. I'd just like to able to completely shut off DTC's but i need to flash the rom to get that done. (for example for airpump delete)

But hey ... i'm happy with the romraider logger and learning view so far

I had this issue, you won't be able to read the rom with the ecutek tune :-(. A way to fix this is remove the ecutek tune by marrying and unmarrying an accessport to your car.

Yeah i've read through it a couple of times. There's a similar thread (if not the same) on IWSTI where i posted some questions about it but no one could answer.

Even though i knew i was going in a dead end street with this i still wanted to try and learn as much as possible. Nonetheless i can now use learning view aswell which is great for me to see how much the engine knocks ... i was concerned after some logs where it knocked during 3rd and 4th gear WOT redline pulls (-4 degrees correction at 5-6k rpm) So far i only drove the car for about 50km's at not so fast speeds/high boost since the battery disconnect. IAM is back to 1 and showing no learned knock anywhere ... however i am afraid that it will show learned knock correction after i've really "given it the beans" ... not sure as to how i can adress this apart from seeing my tuner.

This was a 3rd gear pull from a few weeks ago where i first saw the knock

I really wish i didn't disconnect the battery last weekend ... the day after the cable dropped in the mail but my learned knock correction was all gone.

I'll upload the learning view pic in this post later (still on laptop)

I know it's going a bit offtopic therefore i'll keep my "knock" stories to this post only.

Not sure if serious. IAM of 1 is the highest on 32 bit ecus, it's 16 on 16 bit ones.

Nahh, my WRX is pulling some timing in the open loop(-2.11 tapering back ) so my IAM is 13 now. Haven't had a chance to see my brother in law to tune again. Long story short I saw his IAM was 1 and I was like! Dafuq. But now I know 32bits are different

I have this EXACT same chip. I know how to do the voltage mod (from the BFM cable thread) but I'm having trouble figuring out the K/L line mod that madjax posted. Does anyone know how I'd go about doing that? Here's a picture of the front and backs of mine if that helps any.

You can actually just jump the flashblock with, standard 18G wire from autozone, jump pin 1-2,3-4, then just run a 12V to pin 1 and bam! it works great, currently flashing my 2004 WRX with this method. May need to turn on headlights so you dont get voltage too high error.

I assume you are talking about the voltage mod, which is not my issue. Unless you weren't talking to me in which case... er... sorry

The issue is he has the one with the WCH chip and not the FTDI. (and he's wondering which lines to cut and which lines to jump to mod the circuit board. (in addition to the voltage mod on the obd2 pins)

Which chip do you have? If WCH, you were able to read/flash the ecu with it?

I honestly could not tell you which chip I have, but I can tell you it's not the same used by any others I've seen on this forum. My car is an 02 WRX, which if the stories are to be believed, are the ones that absolutely require the modifications to the circuit board AND the voltage modifications to the pins.

Not the same as mine. Also, you own an 04, which didn't have the timing/cable issues the 02-03's had. Or so I assume based on a LONG list of anecdotal evidence on this forum.

Worked flawlessly for me right out the box (06sti). Haven't gotten to flashing but everything else works flawlessy (romraider,learning view etc) only reason i can't read my rom is due to the ecutek tune (lockout) on it so i presume you can do about anything with this cable without modification. I presume Z has already flashed with this cable without mods (have to check previous pages).

Expect at least 3 weeks shipping.

Can't help mate sorry ... i gave up on the WCH cable after the voltage mods and bought the FTDI one which has no problems straight out of the box. I don't really know if the WCH cable is of more use on the older ecu's or if the mod's actually make it work.

...with the intention of doing some logging. This cable is dirt cheap and like the others seems to be hit or miss with FTDI vs WCH chips. We shall see- i'll report back later this week.
