Basically SDC owns distribution rights for a region. SoA handles everything else such as customer service.

SDC puts orders in to SoA but does not receive shipments based on orders. SoA sends base cars to SDC and if your order fits whatever is coming in they will assign it to you.

Thats how my order took so long. It was basically waiting for a car to match my order.

Since SoA is not responsible for assigning the cars to customers(which is SDC's responsibility as distributors) they must email SDC for any details on your order. Simply put, SDC lets SoA know whether they have assigned a car to your order.

Seems like BS but it is what it is.

Is that the factory lip spoiler? I'm not big on lip spoilers in general but that looks kinda hot.

Its a sticker you put where you choose I believe. I plan on getting these because my initials are RR and I believe I can snip that B for a personal touch.

I hope Hurricane Sandy doesn't screw anything up with getting the car down here from the Baltimore port.

Official owner!

(Shirt color of my son and I are purely coincidental lol)

Thank you to everyone for the support and info along the way. To those waiting, trust me I feel ya... hang in there!! In my first 50 miles on the car, I can report first and foremost, WOW. Also, the stock shifter, to me, feels great... reconsidering any future purchase of a short shifter to be honest. And the WRB paint is sublime, pics don't do it justice.

Order Date: 8/15
ETA: 10/8
Delivered: 10/24 (10 weeks)

If you're in the Harrisburg/Lancaster/York region of PA, HUGE plug for my salesman, Chris Carvell @ Faulkner Subaru Harrisburg. Made the process simple, straight forward, and was just a friendly guy to work with. Plus he's a Subie enthusiast... former WRX/current BRZ owner

Gave up. Bought a different one that came in. Black instead of grey. No fog lights or bike rack. But got everything else I wanted and then some.

Thanks again for all the info pnc82! It all does sound a bit overcomplicated... but like you said... it is what it is...........

Anyway I'm hoping that maybe I might get my car a little earlier since I ordered Limited with no options.

jandree22, congrats! You and your family look really happy! Enjoy the ride!

Alright, I'll bite.

I keep looking at this thread to gauge how long people are waiting before delivery.
I placed my order on 9/15 for a base STi SWP Hatchback - the first three weeks were easy... but now it is getting intense.

I already bought winter wheels and have winter tires left over from my previous vehicle.

Not to get too off topic but the large screen gps from pioneer and Kenwood look kind of glitchy for the $$. I didn't expect good but sound is noticeably bad lol

Well it took me 8 weeks for just a VIN. Hopefully it will be here in the next 2 weeks now.

Call them, tell them you saw the car is in transit, and you are interested in it. They'll want you to put a deposit down, but once you do that it's yours.

Premier Subaru in Branford also has a premium hatch in transit.

Just to note, the pictures on their website often don't sync up with what the model actually is and I've noticed some times the title is screwed up. I'm assuming it's user error on the guy at the dealership who enters the inventory into the website.

D is for 2013 WRX
X is for Hatch,
N is for base model
O is for premium model
P is for limited model

So if you are looking for a premium hatch, the model code should be DXO, look for that when you are checking inventories. The color of the car almost NEVER matches the photo, so be sure to look at the details.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear. It has been 6 weeks and still no VIN. Actually good to know to give me peace of mind.

HAppened to me and my wife in her 2013 impreza, with 141 miles on it.
Woman rear ended us after leaving a "spin class" at the gym, and she had the "Wobbly legs" and slipped off the brake and hit the gas....

Congrats! My MIL lives in York. GTG after i get mine? Your son looks to be about the age of my kids... they loved test driving cars with us. Although, they wanted me to get a convertible, "like grandpa's" (who owns a convertible 996 C4S).
