Default It's the Great Pumpkin Rally!

THE GREAT PUMPKIN RALLY -- 27 October 2012

Six Subarus entered the rally late last month. One of the brought home a First Place trophy! The Subaru Team had the highest score of the three club Teams entered.

The fifth event in our championship series will begin at Fiat of McKinney, and end at the Festival of Pumpkins in Paris, Texas. This will be a fun drive in the country, with some light-hearted competition along the way. This road rally event, run at legal speeds in your own car, will not get you lost, but will show you some pretty roads in North Texas counties that you may not have known about. Just bring yourself, a partner to drive or navigate, a full tank of gas, and a pencil.

You are invited to partake of the festivities and fun at the end in Paris.

Online registration at MotorsportReg.com is required, because you will be mailed the rally rules a few days before the event.

+ Rally Day: Saturday, October 27, 2011
+ Starting Place: Fiat of McKinney, 800 N Central Expy, McKinney, Texas 75070
+ Registration: 9:00 to 9:45am on Rally Day. Novice meeting: 9:45am

+ Finish: downtown Paris, at the Festival of Pumpkins, with street vendors, antique shops, shopping, and more....

+ Vehicles: Sports Cars, Family Cars, Classic Cars, Antiques, Hot Rods, Cruisers, anything with 4 wheels that’s street legal is OK in this Rally. Note: "speed" is not a factor.

+ Awards for 3 classes: First Timer, Novice, and General. Master class entrants are also welcome.

Unfortunately, I have an unavoidable work conflict that weekend. I'd love to do a check run if there is a need. Let me know!

Looks like I'll be running a test run this Sunday! We're super excited, should be a blast!

But there's no e85 anywhere nearby, so it looks like we'll be carrying 15 gallons unless someone has a tactrix cable I can borrow... Either way, it'll be fun.

Well, he started this morning but I haven't heard back that he made it through the course. Did I write too hard of an event to follow? Unlike the other events, if you fall for my traps you might end up in Duluth or Texarkana instead of just looped around.

We made it! It was really great! Awesome roads, maybe the best roads I've driven in any of the previous rallies. The instructions were not too hard to follow and the questions weren't impossible or too easy. A great experience all around!

If you like driving on great country roads, you have to make it out for this one. Very little confusion or frustration, excellent scenery, and super fun to drive! Awesome.

But, if you're car is pretty low, you'll find yourself going slow at times. When I drive it again, I'll raise my car up a bit. But nothing is impassable or anything like that.

I cant imagine i would get up to McKinney in time for registration and my navigator wants a divorce. I'm still kicking myself in the booty for missing the Dublin rally.

We try. This is the 4th year running. This is a traditional rally in the sense of the original 1911 Monte Carlo rally which was organized to get motorists or automobilists to gather together or rally in Monte Carlo to sell some hotel rooms. The end purpose of this rally is to see the Festival of Pumpkins on the square of Paris. And we think you will get to park your car right off the square so people can see it.

Yeah, that was a good one! But you can redeem yourself with this one and you won't be disappointed! Besides, shouldn't you get away from that situation? I'm just saying...

Geez and this rally was laid out with a Subaru although the mileages were done with a Dodge Ram pickup because its odometer is more accurate.

Well, I was going to tell you to show up at the start anyway. We may have a spare driver/navigator available.

Our next rally is on Sunday! Does that help?

It's our annual charity event, on Sunday, Dec 2 in Richardson.
