when did you buy your WRX? it may still be under warranty? i would think that powertrain may cover it, if not... dealership might do a good will if you put up an argument with them

They cannot diagnose a car at all. One of the guys from flat4 took his car in for a cel. the dealer installed a new turbo, injectors, engine harness, new short block and still could not fix the problem. It turned out to be a dirty maf so they installed a new $12k maf sensor |

Sounds like you have a partially stuck open Canister Purge Valve (the one bolted to the intake manifold)
Its allowing vapor from the from the tank to enter the intake manifold during fueling this is causing the hard starting. All the vapors should be going into the canister. |

Ok, so after a long time down.... I installed new/bigger pump (dw300), new/bigger injectors, fuel pump gasket, removed the manifold and did some cleaning up....All the vacuum lines are good. All the pcv hoses were replaced, all sensors seem to be working. I put gas in the car and it flooded. I am also trying to get my readiness monitors to set so I can smog the car and while driving the car yesterday, a CEL came on ...p0457. I am gonna pull the back seat out and check to make sure the pump is tightened enough with the new gasket. I have also started to pull different hoses at the manifold around the purge control to see if it has any effect. Hopefully I can knock both problems out in one shot? If anybody has any ideas, it would really be appreciated as well.

Well yes if the dealer was a decent one it would be. The EVAP system is definitly part of the emissions system. Some dealers though if the car is overly modified will just throw their hands up and say no though. Might be a good idea to call the dealer you want to go to, tell them the code you have and then tell em that you have modified the car and see if they will play ball with you of if they tell ya to GTFO.

So, as per the EPA and the standards they instill, the only three parts covered by 8/80 are the pcm, catalytic converter, and the OBD (on board diagnostic) device. So Ill have to get some more dirty and post what I find

Oops brain fart...I thought you ment the 5/50 or whatever the bumper to bumper warranty is. Yes you are correct for the 8/80. An stuck open purge can cause this issue.

Lol.... i have had 2 major break downs, parked the car and have almost parted/sold the car a few times. I am hoping to get tuned this week and will continue to update when i figure it out...unless it blows up again. If that happens, the car is gonna turn into a big down payment on another house after i get rid of it
