Nope, I was just asking to see what mforce712 had done. I wouldn't double up the mats anyways. I guess I should probably sell my OEM all weather mats and the Impreza sport carpet floor mats.

Hi does anyone use anything to protect the doors from dings/dents while parked in a parkinglot/garage with tight spaces?

I recently moved to another parking garage for work and the spaces there are tighter than my previous garage and I am worried about neighboring cars dinging my doors.

I looked into some products like the Door Shox but was wondering if anyone has tried it or has something else to recommend? I dont want to buy the factor moldings which I think does do much and is rather unsightly since its permanant.

thanks chanomatik for the reply...yea i did look into that and the cheapest is around 150 that ive found, however i dont want the moldings as i dont like the look. I was just curious if anyone has tried or uses the aftermarket ones that you can put on and take off.

call me weird or a PITA but i prefer not to deal with the moldings bc its so thin and not repositionable since SUV doors can be higher and having those aftermarket ones allows you to move it around to protect better. Plus dont want to deal with the OEM moldings being all dented and scratched thus still making the car unsightly with scratches and dings (albiet on the moldings)

Gotcha. I was hoping you HAD researched them already. I can totally see your points. I noticed the SUV door thing, too. I saw a door open and was old, "Moldings wouldn't help that!" And, yeah, paint-matched moldings getting dinged would suck. However, at least they're easily replaced. It's expensive, sometimes, repairing door dings. More often than not, it IS expensive, especially if paint is missing.

Might not always be an option but i try to park in corners or next to a wall, where i can get as close as possible and away from the neighboring spot.

I wouldnt buy moldings unless you liked the look. Not much protection there imo.

I found a small ding in my door after detailing it and now i notice it more and more even though its tiny. lol

yea i try but for some reason at this garage the wall spots are even smaller/narrower so i avoid them. luckily i get there early before other commuters so i can pick my spot but its not knowing who is goign to pull up next to me worries me.

ill probably get the door shox.

SNOW DAY!!! I've been waiting four and half months for the chance to drive my car in the snow and today we got about four inches of snow. It was every bit as awesome as I expected. I even left work an hour early so that I wouldn't get caught behind the worst of the rush hour traffic. SNOW DAY!!!

Which model Impreza do you have? Do you have the Yoko Avid 17" tires, or a different setup?

I have a limited wagon with CVT and 16" Steel rims with Nitto SN2 tires on them.

Ah, OK, you have dedicated snow tires. I'm glad you're happy with the performance.

I bought a set of used 16" Blizzaks (with only 5k miles on them), mounted on old WRX wheels, for $280 (no TPMS sensors). I'll be installing them on the car in a couple of weeks, and am looking forward to trying them in the snow.

I have that, but I still have a problem with the strip below the grill that bumps into concrete space markers in a parking lot. I'm not used to such a fragile bumper and the way the hood disappears from view from the driver's seat!

Yeah I am actually use to that, my current accord has the same issue that damn front area that always hits the space markers so I just kind of learned to always stop a little before i get to the markers. annoying but hey what are you gonna do.

The guy lives near me, so I went directly to his garage. The installation is pretty easy (about 30 minutes)

Just an FYI - if you haven't gotten a letter from Subaru yet, certain PZEV models ('12 Imprezas, '11 & '12 Outbacks, may affect other models) have a recall of sorts. There's an ECM reflash to update the software having to do with the OBDII & engine coolant thermostat. Don't know what build dates are effected, but the letter lists states where this applies & they are PZEV states so it may be limited to earlier build PZEVs.

Bought Hella Supertones and took the grille off tonight to plan how I'd install them, and I noticed that the stock horn connector isn't just a standard .250" female plug (which seemed to be the case on older Imprezas). Instead it's this -- can anybody identify it?





If possible I'd like to get the mate for that connector so that I don't have to touch the stock wiring. I guess I could vampire tap it but I don't have much faith in the longevity of those.

Just got deployment orders from FEMA and I am en route to Jersey as we speak. Unfortunately that means I have to leave the bugger home for at least a month

Conditions up there are crazy. Half my office is up there sleeping in cars because power went out the hotels they were in

Here they are installed on my car, prepare to cut a small penetration hole in the inner splash guard for the inner mounting bracket to be available for the rear mudflaps. Give yourself enough time and purchase 3M Stage 2 Mounting Tape (green print) to put the aero splash guard back on.

If anybody's curious, I ended up improvizing by using a two-pronged spade connector; one of the prongs fit perfectly into the conducting part of the connector, and there was room for the other prong to the side. I then taped it all up and zip tied the wires together on either side of the connection to absorb any stress. Not the prettiest connection, but it should hold, and will be easy to revert back to stock.
