I lucked out 2 blocks below me got flooded an washed out . i tried driving to work today but turned around cause of crazy traffic. most of the time would take me 1hr to the city but took me 1hr 45 mins for 5 exits . told my boss im going home

I've been checking in on Star Ledger and the Bergen Record. I used to live in Little Ferry, Eckel Rd. off Main St. It's heartbreaking to see my hometown under all that water right now. My sister and her family still live there, and they had to be evacuated.

pete i hope all goes well for them. i was looking at some property in little ferry about 6 months ago but my girlfriend was scared of the flooding and we didnt pull the trigger.

I just filled up today, prices were lower than last week actually.
Nbc news confirms lower prices as well but who knows how long this will last.

i'm not looking forward to looking at our property down in AC, all the news footage is towards the north end by Brigantine but ours is closer to Ventnor.

My car has quite a few scratches from the neighbors siding striking my car multiple times. I even lost a windshield washer nozzle on my hood. But these are not complaints. I am very thankful and I know this is nothing compared to what other people are going through.

Our cars are ok thankfully. I was able to get a full tank of gas in all 3 cars on Tuesday morning with little effort despite the fact that 90% of the surrounding areas still don't have power. I snuck in before people realized it was going to be hard to get.

Thanks Tobe. It's a good thing you didn't. Great place to live (though things have been going down a bit since the housing crash) but it is a flood zone and the disclosures drive that point home when you're looking at houses there. My family accepted that risk and we actually got off pretty clean for the past 12 years; our house was even spared from flood damage when Irene hit! Last contact was from an IL who lives there, the house's ground floor is under 4 feet of water and all 3 of our cars are lost.

That's horrible, my families condo is the 2nd floor. So i'm not necessarily worried about flooding ( for our floor at least). The first floor is most likely ****ed.

tree fell in front of our house in astoria; 4 cars got hit, but nothing bad (like in the movies at least). Lost power to some parts of the house, but not bad for how dramatic it was. Parked the subaru in the hospital's underground garage for the past 2 days. Came out unscathed.

I have power in hawthorne here in Passaic county now. Went to stroudsburg pa to get gas. The lines here are a mile long and countless hours, so I spent 2 hours driving instead. Sure beat idling the night away in a gas line.

I did the same thing but drove up north to stamford to fill up my moms mini van much bigger than the subbes tank. 2 hours in traffic going, 40 min coming back and found a nice bar next to the gas station. also filled 2 portable containers for my in laws generator.

Some gas stations opened this morning in East Meadow. Probably guys that did not have power and had fuel in the tanks.
I got lucky yesterday and topped off my Mercedes with Diesel. I'll probably wait till things get better before filling my Subaru.

The further you are from ny and Atlantic city the better chance you have finding gas

no troubles finding gas here in SJ, we were lucky and got spared.
Actually i was in AC earlier today to check on the property, got lucky, no damage on the south end.
Plenty of stations were open on the way down on rt 40 through Pleasantville into AC.
