Relax, It just a car (material object), why do you get upset when GTR is discussed.

Anyways, the GTR is an exceptional sports car and the dual clutch is a match for the drivetrain. All it doesn't have is the clutch, so you lose the need to use the left foot, but you gain using left hand.

It might be fun to drive manual, but why do you suggest people aren't having fun in a DSG.

As far as driving a manual being a challenge, no it is not hard. Nobody said it was. But it is harder than putting it in D and mashing the go pedal. It is more physically engaging than flicking your finger.

There is no amount of whining you can do to make that less true. Those are not opinions, those are FACTS. Driving a manual requires more interaction with the car. That is 100% unflappable truth.

What is an opinion is that I think driving a manual is more fun because of aforementioned facts.

You can feel free to argue all you want about my opinion, but you cannot argue facts.

Um, I did not suggest they are not having fun. I have never said a DSG was NOT fun for others, I said it was not as fun TO ME because it is not as interactive.

There is a difference there that I do not think the majority of people here seem to grasp.

I have driven a DSG equipped GTI and a manual GTI. The manual was more fun to me, as I was more involved with driving it.

If you guys like DSG cars, power to you. All I have ever said, is I think it would be more fun to drive as a slick 6 speed manual, Like the R34.

I am not the sensitive one here. I just made a simple statement and the onslaught of insults began.

at the end of the day, to each their own, right.

I hate bringing up:

hand wash vs washing machine

typewriter vs computer

bicycle vs motorcycle
Whaaaat? Bicycle. I like to do EVERYTHING manually, including moving the wheels Plus I don't want fiery death. I'm far too stupid to safely operate a motorcycle long-term.

Company Tablerus has built a new machine, it can product high end coffee tables from uncut wood that even includes a variety of designs and finishes. The only requirement of the operator is to glue the produces pieces together in the right order. There isnít a machine on the market that can touch the quality or the speed of this machine. Tablerus has earned pride in this machine as this is the pinnacle of their designs to date. Now would I want this machine? Yes if:
1) I own a table making company, but in this role I actually have no direct involvement in making a table.
2) If I am the operator and I get paid by the number of tables I produce.
3) I am trying to set the world record for the number of tables made in an hour.

I do NOT want this machine if
1) I want to show my skills as a carpenter
2) Building a table or two a year as a hobby in my garage just for fun.
3) Just like shaping the wood the way I want

Itís not just the transmission for me, itís the fact that the car pretty much does everything for you and makes you look good doing it. There is no refining your skill, sense of pride by pushing up to and sometimes the edge, no sense of balance. A Sports car is a hobby car for me, I want to drive them for the fun, not the results. If I need to get paid to win I want the best tool for the job, otherwise I want a sense of accomplishment. I want to know that I won a race based on my driving and prep, not that the machine did 90% of the skill work for me. That includes just spirited drives on the weekends. The GT-R falls in the category of a hobby/fun car even though many consider it as a daily. I would love to have all the features the GT-R has in a sedan that I could use a daily driver. I think a DSG/PDK is perfect for that, auto for the daily grind, but sport when needed, but I donít want that for the ďhobbyĒ driving. Then as a driver a person is no better than some of the pop music groups many complain about. The ones that have the melodies written by a computer through an algorithm that says it will sell, and lyrics by some guy they have never met, only sound good with auto tune and studio work, and have to lip sync when performing live. They may be selling a load of songs, but the tech is doing all the work. Iíd much rather be the guy who performs acoustic in a small club if I have other significant income means.

Ok, done for now voicing my opinion.
Thanks for this. I appreciate the thought into the analogy.

I think what we want is a manual OPTION.

Key word, OPTION.

Hell, make it a special order, kinda thing. Even if the buyer has to wait is 6-12 months ATLEAST make it an option.

This goes for ALL sports/sporty/super/any? cars. I think there should always be an option.

That way you DSG lovers can keep your faster shifting time and get your record lap times around the neighborhood, and the manual lovers can do what we do.

Not gonna happen, but......

i have a 2008 wrx for when i want to row gears

i have a 800+whp (built motor, built trans, full bolt ons,E85, JRZs) 2010 gtr for when i want to be faster than pretty much anything at the track, run 9.99s@140 at the strip, **** on just about anything on the streets or drive my 12 year old to school in. All on pump gas, street tires and the same tune.

The GTR was the first car I ever owned that does not have a manual gearbox and if the option was available I still wouldnt have bought a manual

try rowing through first, second and third fast enough to keep up with that launch

Dear Mr. Mizuno,

You may not know me but I am a member of the internet forum North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club... What do you mean you've never heard of it? It's only one of the biggest automotive forums on the internet! Anyways, I was writing to complain to you directly about the decision to not offer the GTR with a manual transmission. You see, I enjoy the visceral feel of rowing my own gears so much that I will be looking at another car unless you change your mind. Yep, you just lost yourself a customer. Unless you're willing to make one for me custom, that is. As it sits, I would not consider your completely boring, sedated and mundane flappy paddle supercar killer as I require a manual transmission-equipped car that lets me feel one with machine as I heel toe and rev match every downshift perfectly and clip the apex of Oak Street and West Main Boulevard on the way to work. I request that you cease and desist your technical innovations and so called "progress" at once and revert back to the 1970s as I grew up in that era and consider anything introduced since then to be a step forward and two steps back. I trust that the manual model will be ready for 2015. Oh, and if you could give it a 2.0l N/A motor as well, that would be swell. Turbos just ruin cars. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Forum Derp

sorry, no penis curiosities here. This is a automotive forum.

Anyways, back on the topic of 2014 GTR. I wonder what kind of exterior updates. Also, I can't wait to see to see a final R35 version --nur edition or something.

So if mhoward1 talks about having two race cars and having almost 20 years of competition driving experience, it's all good... but when OhNoANinja talks about actually owning the car in discussion (which is pretty pertinent and supports his opinions), you make fun of him and ask about his penis?

It doesn't look like there will be much, if any. If there are, I'm guessing that they're even smaller updates than what the 2012 model got. But I do feel like they'll go out with a bang and release some crazy edition before they move onto the next iteration.

4 Demographics (not exhaustive of course):

1. GTR Owners
2. People who can't afford a GTR
3. People who can afford a GTR, know it is "better" than other cars, but want the image associate with driving something else
4. People who can afford a GTR, but truly want something more involving

Each of these demographics seem generally opposed to the others - makes for heated debates - that are generally not about the car LOL...
