Hello NASIOC,
This thread was originially supposed to get opinions for a High Mileage WRX I was looking at a while ago. But I backed out, I'm willing to spend about 12,000 for a WRX but it'd need to have low miles. So now I basically would like to see what is a fair price range for mileage... 70,500 Miles on a 04 WRX, has CF bumpers and black wheels (Can't remember brand type), Greddy Exhaust. Rest is stock, and it comes with stock wheels, bumpers, exhaust etc. World Rally Blue For 12,500 Is this a good deal? It's the best local deal I've found yet... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! -CFM

Just bought my first Subaru with 72,xxx and it runs great.
I hope someone else could help a bit more, but with any car, do your research on it and try to find out how well it was maintained and driven. With a kid on the way, he/she should be first priority so make sure you still have money to support it. That is a pretty high mileage vehicle and isn't a Honda/Acura so it won't last forever. I assume that since they don't have much torque to beat the engine lol. Personally, I would stay away from it, but if you can afford a swap or mini swap and keep up with the costs when it starts failing just in case, then go for it. Might as well find yourself a better deal and a lower mileage car. I bought mine for $9,000 with some mods, mostly sound and interior mods and the previous owner was a great guy to deal with. Tons of service records and previous information. Coming from a Honda guy by the way. Didn't look back lol. |

Hah, yes. I'll still have money to support the baby. I do well financially. Yeah I'd like to find a stock WRX, due to alot of people doing things half-assed and not proper scares me. Plus it's fun to build up you're own car. I've really comed to realize after re-searching Subaru's that they are the prefect car for me. Good in snow as I live in the Highlands, 4 doors for room, look great, and are quick! Of course, I doubt I'd be doing any swap's any time soon with a baby on the way. But some day it would for sure happen!
Again I appreciate any support/opinions/advice. -CFM |

I have a local dealer giving me $8,000.00 for a trade in on my Prelude towards a 2003 Bugeye Silver in color with 71, XXX miles on it. It's clean and stock so it's excactly what I'm looking for... BUT he's asking 11,500 for it which I think (think) that it's to much? So I'm having to add 3,500.00 with my Prelude which is good I hope. I'd like to get some help from NASIOC, as I see some potential speakers and knowledge on here.
Thanks! -CFM |

Yeah... I just can't ever see paying that much for a vehicle with that many miles. I backed out anyway, the guy was a d-bag.

Well... I bought a wagon for about 17 minutes, I've only seen the car twice - Once before the purchase, and at the purchase. Both times in the shade. Well, I pulled away and it was mine I felt like a little school girl all happy and what not. Then I park it at a local Mall, I get out lookin' it over see what it looks like in the sun light due to it being black. I notice hail damage through-out the entire car. Now don't call me a blind idiot, 5 out of 5 people that were there both times didn't notice it it while in the shade! Angry and frustrated I ran the car back to the owner and told her to knock off 2,000 atleast off the price or it's hers again. Her being stubborn, saying it's worth full book with the car totaled in hail damage? I laughed, said heres you're title - Where's my check?
Talked to her insurance adjuster, he stated there was over 4,500.00 in damage. And she wanted 9,750.00 - While she stated she only brought in 2,000 from the adjuster. Couldn't believe it! Anyways, Sorry I didn't mean to rant about my bad experience. I'm lovin' that Sedan! PMing you now! Thank you all for the bumps and advice, glad to hear the high miles aren't affecting you're performance! -CFM |

Sounds like you found a great deal. Where I live every car is extremely over-priced, so that's why I'm looking out of state.

What ever you do don't buy a car with 150,000+ miles. You will find people that say I've got X amount of miles and it runs great, but that's their car and they know it and what's really going on with it. Those cars are out there, but it's not worth the chance. Play it safe even if it costs a little more, it's worth it in the long run. Good luck with that silver car.

Yeah man I backed out, I realized it was totally not what I truly wanted I was just a LITTLE bit interested because it was a cheap WRX... But I figure if I have 12k to spend on a car, I have 12k to spend ON A CAR.

Back in January, I bought an 03 WRX sedan PSM (stock) one owner that had been traded in at a dealership. It had 68K on the odo. I bought it for $9800 from the dealership (they had been asking $13,500). It's in fantastic shape, no problems at all. I've been slowly moving into modifications and enjoying it 110%....take your time and good luck!

Sorry to revive an old thread, but if anyone's interested, here's my $.02. I bought a 2004 wagon with 280,000 miles one month ago. When I first saw the ad, thought it was nuts that someone was trying to sell it. Turns out that it was clean. Really clean. One owner, kept it stock. I drove it and took it by my mechanic (his shop rebuilds several Subaru engines a week). Nothing mechanically wrong with it. I took the gamble and bought it. I immediately replaced the timing belt, tensioners, thermostat, and water pump; changed the oil; and replaced the rear diff and gearbox oil. The diff oil had no metal in it. The gearbox oil had some flakes, but nothing worse than I've seen before. I've loved it the car so far and it pulls strong and runs great all around. I think there are people out there who really take care of cars. But I think they are incredibly rare, and I was incredibly lucky.
