Hah Fixing these tail lights certainly is a desperate situation. I love my car but I cringe everytime I open the hatch or walk up to from behind.

Finally got around to installing these. If anyone in the KC area is looking, PDI Clear Bra is the best in the business. Call up Eric and he is more than willing to help out. Great guy and very meticulous with his vinyl. I couldn't be happier with the cut outs and his service.

I originally ordered the reds along with 3/10 smoke. After doing the full set of red, Eric mocking up one of the smokes we feel it didn't look as clean on a silver car. A darker color could pull it off but just not my hatch.

If anyone wants a set of 3/10 smoked cut outs let me know.

Not sure why you are posting this in the overlay thread specific to Bat's? All my research into VHT and spraying your tails in general is that it fades. Haven't heard those issues with overlays, and I had them on my previous car for 5 years with no issues or maintenance required.

Love this layout. My concern/question... given the stock turn signal glows amber, is the red overlay enough to convert it to a pure red, or does it come through with a tinge of orange (red+yellow)?

Their website is http://www.pdiclearbra.com/ and looks like number is 913-422-1742. His name is Eric.

You can try your luck but he says he has a template for these tails and usually likes to make them when the car comes in. He had a lot of good things to say about your work, he's just one of those guys that likes to do it himself.

Anybody in St. Louis had these installed? I'm looking to get these but I don't really trust a tint shop to install them.

Is there a reason why more people don't apply these themselves? I had never worked with vinyl before doing mine and it just took a friend and I a couple hours and some patience - they happened to come out great.

I have a tendency to mess things like that up. I'm impatient.

I originally ordered the red and the 3/10 smoked but after applying just the red i thought the smoked made it too muddled. It looks damn clean with just red. Scroll up to see them on my silver hatch.

PM Bluebat in this thread, he is posting right above you. He is the one that makes these and ships them.

Not my car but about the only ones I could find of that combo on a light color widebody.

I'm 90% sure that is the 3/10. Layering it over the red really darkens it. I believe I have only seen one that layered 6/10 over red and it was basically black.

I do not recall what I paid and I'm not sure if he changed his price. You will need to PM Bluebat for that.

It's hard to say. I have 3/10 over red and when it's not really bright out, it does look much darker. Any light and it brightens up a lot and is still very red. The 3/10 over my reverse lights almost looks like it's not even there. FYI this is not refering to the car at the beginning of this post, I'm talking about my BRZ.

I did them myself (see post #1) and you're right, it's not too hard if you don't try to rush. Really depends on the housing you're working with, though. The little hump on the side of the light is a bit of a nuisance. I had someone else do my BRZ and am very glad. There was some trial/error there, as the brake light housing has a funky "fin" on the corner that was a huge PITA.

But I saw the installer do something I didn't think about before, and that's tucking the leftover vinyl behind the light (if/when you can). This way, it dries folded and you don't have the edges peeling up where you cut off the excess.
