Theres alot more to the STi than the HP. However, if that's all you see in the car, then WRX is probably a better choice for you.

Can you tell me what alot more..... is ??? Because for the difference in cash you can swap out suspension, exhaust, and even wheels and have enough money left over to do a track day or two. The STI is awesome don't get me wrong. Thing is though most here that buy them swap out the very same thing as above listed and those are the thing's you payed for buying the STI in the first place. The only other advantage is the 6 speed. Put a better clutch in the 5 and I'm happy. My 2 cents worth. |

The thing is if you plan to modify your car...you're better off with the WRX because chances are you are going to end up swapping alot of the parts that separate the STi from the WRX and if you do that, then what was the point of buying the STi to begin with (aside from the DCCD....which most people don't even have a clue about or how to properly use it). Basically is you're gonna add power, change suspension, brakes etc (and if you're going to do it, you will more than likely do it regardless of whether you bought a wrx or sti) you are better off with the WRX and going and buying some Cherry Red (Pink) STi's badges....they are MUCH cheaper to buy separately than when pre-installed on the car from the factory (ie, buying a STi). |

If you want to trade your car in for a car that would be better for track use, than you should trade it in for an Evo9, not an STI.
The '09 trannies aren't as fragile as they were in the past. Some of the internals have been shot-peened to make them stronger. You shouldn't be so worried though- Your car is brand new, you have a warranty. Worst case scenario- You bust your tranny and your warranty is voided due to abuse. That's when you decide to rebuild it with better parts, or swap to an STI trans. Either way, you still save money. You will always take a hard hit trading in a new car. New for used / New for New...doesn't matter. You will lose money. |

Um... the warranty is void if you do any sort of racing with your car. Check the fine print of your warranty. So the stock STI to race and be under warranty is not a valid argument.

If you want the STi I say go for it but you could just mod your WRX and save a few bucks? What do you owe on the WRX?
