Default Subaru OBS to WRX swap

I am interested in buying an older OBS and doing a WRX swap, but I am fairly unfamiliar with swapping and this would be my first swap. I was just wondering if anyone had any information as to how hard/what I would need to do this swap! I was searching the forums and couldn't find an official write up about this swap, if anyone has one that would be great too. Any information about the swap would be helpful, I don't care how long or how much money it will take me..I just want to know what I need!

Thanks for reading and hopefully you can help me out

I have a 97 impreza obs i'm also attempting to do the same with. I love the idea and so many people have done it already idk why no one has commented. I was told you'll need to get the wrx and obs harness merged by someone, get the wrx fuel pump, turbo cross member so it'll have the notch for the up pipe, then its pretty simple after that. oh and grab the wrx ecu of course. Now this may change slightly if you plan to upgrade the wrx engine to bigger turbo, injectors... tmic, fmic, stand alone are all good choices at that point. good luck and if you get any more info on the swap lmk cause i'm partially clueless as well. I know a little from what i've been told but haven't been given a complete list.

iwire is decent but charges like 1k to do a merged harness. thats crazy to pay that when shops can do it for 700 or less.

as far as swap goes i've heard its really simple. either get an entire wrx and swap over the dash and everything and merge in little stuff like doors and windows and lights. or get an engine, harness, ecu, and notched cross member from a wrx and have it merged. I've been told its a weekend swap so can't be that hard once you aquire all the parts.

I had Brian do my wiring harness last year and I paid 700 plus shipping one way. I would say that is reasonable. Also Brian was amazingly helpful in troubleshooting. I couldn't get the car to turn over. He stayed on the phone with me while we went through every possibility checking the harness. We eventually found a broken wire from the previous owner. Just saying that I had a positive experience and would go with iwire I I was to do it all over.

$600-$650 is hardly $1k. I paid $600 for him to do the WRX/RS wire swap. $650 for DBW
