Anyone ever made a power steering cooler before? The GR chassis has this stupid problem with power steering fluid getting cooked from basic driving and I'm thinking about making a cooler for it.

Priced everything out, assembly seems simple, etc. Just unsure of where to mount the cooler since I have super tones so my grill is kinda monopolized.

A cooler in front of your radiator should be fine, let's the air flow right through to the radiator.

really? i've tracked and been around plenty of gr's and no one brought this up. you can mount it in front of the rad and cut that plastic black trim out to gain more room up front.

Yeah it's weird***8230; it only happens once the car is warmed up. Lots of people apparently have this problem though - there's a bunch of threads on IWSTI about it.

My fluid smells kinda funny almost like it's burnt but I'm not sure of what perfectly clean power steering fluid smells like.

In any case, I think I'll get a 2.5"x7" cooler and slap it in. Just trying to figure out what AN fittings I need before I put the order in. I think I can fit it next to my horn on the passenger side but I have to be careful about how I orient it because of the fittings.

BTW - Carlo said his car makes the noise but I haven't heard it yet. Mine is pretty pronounced though.

You hear it at close to, or at full lock? Because I do.

Actually any turning of the wheels really but only when the car is pretty warm.

I don't think so. I guess it depends though. I'm trying to use AN 6 fittings.

Should be under $150 in parts. Just trying to hammer out the routing issues because I don't want to buy the wrong AN fittings. The coolers themselves are about $30-60 depending on brand and fitting style.

Any of you guys have any restaurant connections? I'll be delivering a Forester full of supplies to the Rockaways later this week and would love to bring some fresh food, pizza, etc with me for the people without power or hot meals. If you guys have other stuff you want to donate I can pick that up too.

Vinny might. I dunno what he's been up to lately though.

I have two trash bags full of clothes that I've been meaning to donate. If you want to take them with you, I'll make sure they are washed, dried, and folded. I can pick up some new fresh underwear and socks too if you think they need it. Just let me know.

As far as food goes, if no one has a connection, I'll throw in on some pizzas or whatever if anyone else wants to get in. Boston Market might be a good bet, too. The only tricky bit is keeping it warm until you get there.

I'd love to take a ride with you but I'm having a pre-Thanks Giving crunch at work and have this debilitating cold. Please keep us posted.

I was just down in Breezy Point yesterday helping my friends Grandparents gut their first floor. It's a mess down there. Really sad. I'll post some pics in a little while.

That's where one of my friends has spent the past 2 weeks and where I'll be delivering stuff. Lots of people without power or heat or food. Lots of devastation.

Not sure if they're looking for clothes at this point. My friend said most of what they need are 5 gallon gas cans and cleaning supplies. I can't find any gas cans up here but have some cleaning supplies.
