Figured I should publicly thank the ******* that broke into my wifes Forester at the ride share parking lot in Auburn off West Valley highway. I really hope that breaking all three locks and damaging the drivers side door was worth it for the $3.00 in change and 5 year old TomTom that you took. Had you bothered to look in the back pack sitting on the back seat you could have walked off with a whole bunch of random veterinary meds and $50 worth of Starbucks gift cards, but I suppose it was easier to pry the glovebox off instead (which btw was unlocked and only had an owners manual and a Justin Timberlake cd in it)

Sucks man. I've had my car broken into, and it ain't fun.
That being said...I wouldn't expect anything less from the city with the highest per capita crime rate in the state (and who turned down the show COPS out of embarassment, which is why Lakewood said yes). |

My girlfriends 06 wagon just got broken into in our driveway in downtown Bellevue near Medina. So ****ing pissed right now! They took a few dollars and her iPod touch which she had Facebook, her email, and other important stuff. Now we need to go through the process of changing everything >
. We feel so violated just because it was right in front of our house, only a few feet from where we sleep! I ****ing hate thieves!!! |

Unfortunately it was, all they took was the jewel case, JT was safe inside her CD player (another item that was left in the dash)
As a bonus, the thieving ****stick left his screwdriver on the passenger floor of her car, so I guess I can haz free tools? Quote:
Meh, in the end it's just material things. She was not in or near the car when it happened so it could have been much worse. |

I think we should go back to taking fingers off of convicted thieves.
Harder to steal AND it marks you for life. |

That's so cute, you think the cops give a damn.
Wife called the non emergency number and got a "we are currently closed, call back Mon-Fri from 8-6" message. So she called 911 (mind you, she is in tears at this point) and she is told "go online and fill out a report, have a nice day! *click" ![]() At least the Detroit police don't bother to answer when you call ![]() She filled out the report last night and submitted it. E-mail reply is "print this for your records" Really? At the very least follow up with the person, give them some reassurance that if they see a trend at this particular lot that they will have an officer swing by during their patrol or something. I understand the chances of catching the person that did this are effectively zero. Instead of trying to catch somebody after the fact let's at least focus on preventing future incidents. |

Why do I always hear of **** going down like this?
My old car was broken into twice. First time they made off with my stereo remote, a pack of Nutterbutters and some Chips A'hoy... left all my CDs. Second time they got absolutely nothing, because it was parked in SF and I'm not an idiot. I know some people have nothing better to do with their lives, but come on... at least try to be good at it. |

Scum. That really sucks. My RS was broken into twice when I lived in Renton for nothing more than CDs... They were mostly MP3 CD's so value was minimal, idiots.
I thank the frameless windows that they let them in without causing any major damage. Just a few scuff marks around the trim. |

I gave him a 9pt in another thread for calling member "Zulu" (the African tribe) a (and I quote) "Fagget assed chink queer boy that takes it up the ass from his Star Trek bf". He apparently did not like that as he began to E-stalk myself and a few others from the thread.
Needless to say he has been voted off the island. ![]() Anywho, thanks to Jamie I got all the door locks replaced (I re-keyed them myself so they would match) and all is well in the universe. That said, the Forester will probably be up for sale this summer as we have been eyeing Land Rovers lately. |

Stupid question for the OP. Did the forester have an alarm? I've put one on my imp, hoping to deter jerks from breaking in or stealing it. Lately there's been a lot of Soobies stolen, wondering if they had alarms or if alarms are just a false comfort.

It has an alarm (with impact sensor and ignition kill) Thing is this is a fairly isolated parking lot. Even so, how often do you hear an alarm going off and actually look into it? I hear them daily and just write it off as "some idiot forgot to dis-arm" Thieves know this and don't give a ****. Even with an ignition kill your car can still be taken. When I lived in the Detroit area they would literally just back a tow truck up to the car, hook up and take it with alarm blaring. Nobody questions it at all. Car gets taken to the chop shop and worked on at their leisure.

I'm so sorry this happened and also a bit enraged.
Auto thefts and break ins are outrageous in this area. I can't help but think it's because of the overly passive approach taken by police officers and "the system". It's the whole reason why I'm driving a Subaru now... Knock on Honda's all you want, but the are economical, reliable, easy to maintain, and can be fast cars. I had a swapped civic once, it was stolen while I was taking night classes in college and stripped pretty much to the frame. 1 month later I got a call from friends. They found my block sitting in a civic at the drag races. I called the police whom informed me that my car was returned and the my case closed. I had receipts/photos with the block numbers etc... They would not help at all. Last edited by angrychicken; 02-19-2013 at 12:11 AM. |

Damn, that sucks. I would prefer to run into the thief in action, and uh, calmly talk him out of the situation...
