As you mention they were best on dry/wet roads without snow or ice. They were definitely better than all-seaons in harsh conditions but they are nowhere near as good as the Blizzak or X-Ice or Continental winter option. The difference was enough that she wanted to change them to the Michelins as she was getting stuck in the back lane. Once the change happened she didn't get stuck anymore, but complained that it felt 'funny' driving on the roads once they had cleared. In snow they are as you say only OK. It will be a balance of what you need or expect to drive in. Unless you are doing a lot of highway driving without snow covered roads I would not get the 210s.

Hey guys,
I have an 06 Legacy 2.5GT and im looking at getting new tires put on for the winter. Im just torn between the Continental DWS like i have on my 99OBS or getting some actual snow tires like the Blizzak LM-60s. I just moved to Rhode Island so im not exactly sure how the winters are going to pan out. I drive up to 150 miles a day for work, up to northern mass and as far south as southern CT. Thanks |

i like them. they are pretty light also, 16.5 lbs on my bathroom scale. i went with general altimax tires in a 205/60 size. i was going to do a 215/55 but after some reading, i preferred the taller sidewall. the tire is also cheaper

Finally decided on Wintersport 3D tires in 205/55r16 for my 02 WRX rims. Looks funny to me but I'm ready for whatever the winter brings!

It took mine 20 minutes. Not as annoying as I thought it would be.

I drove my '11 all last season without the light coming on. When I put my winters on yesterday, it flashed for 30 secs or so and then nothing.

Mounted my winters(Altimax Arctic 205/60/16) on some used steel rims I got from a guy(craigslist) who had used them on his Saab. I called up tire vendors trying to find if these wheels would fit 100 percent by the number inside of the rim, I managed to find two different offsets for steel wheels that would fit the wrx. This wheel was said to be +41 offset, fwiw.
A few pictures, just for kicks. Sadly just a point and shoot Canon![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Nice to see some cars with wheel and tire combos that actually fit the cars correctly.

I'm trying to decide on tires for winter. I'm in NC, so I'll mostly be on dry pavement. We might have some ice in the morning. I'll make a few trips to the mountains for snowboarding. I already have some 16x7 rims. Any recommendations?

If dry pavement traction is your top priority, go with a performance winter, like the Dunlop 3D, etc, but don't expect excellent ice traction from a performance winter. If ice traction is your top priority, go with the Michelin Xi3.

Yes, dry pavement traction is top priority. How does the dunlop 3d compare to the hankook i*cept evo?
