The wife and I thought about getting one for her but she thinks a forrester would be a better fit for our family. We might still test drive one just for the heck of it.

The XV is just a glorified Outback Sport that is a little taller, and a little slower. So anything that fits on the new body style will most likely fit on the XV. My dad was tossing the idea around of getting one, but I think he is going to stick with his 2011 NA Impreza for a little bit longer and patiently wait for news about a new WRX. However, if they came out with a diesel version in the US I would be all over this haha.

I drove the 5 speed. Stock suspension and gear box on the XV felt better than my stock 11 WRX did. The car isnt really lacking any daily driven power. We piled 5 people in the car at the dealer and went for a spin. Slow compared to my 300+WHP WRX but enough to get you around. Took it down a rough road and over some speed humps and the ride quality is FARRRRRR better than the 2012 forester.
I also took it up ~20 degree slope with all 5 passengers, 2nd gear going slow and made it up no problem. I almost had to floor it but never had to downshift. To me this car is an upgrade from the forester is both looks and ride! *one thing I wonder is how the shifter linkage is going to be. Wonder if I could run my 11 WRX short shifter and bushings in it. That would be nice :P |

A 3.6R version would be awesome. I bet insurance will be cheaper too Brian.

My gf really likes it, but unless they release a diesel, 5spd or a real auto vs. the CVT, I think we're gonna wait for something better.
Her '96 legacy has almost 200k on it, but is still in pretty good condition. |

My wife and I looked at one the first weekend they arrived. We were completely underwhelmed by the one we checked out--it was completely stripped down in white with that awful tan interior.
Need to see another one with all the options and trim level we want. |
